Remember Sensei-sama, we get two revisions, one for Tech and the other for Skills. And me posting the barrel extensions was me trying to not get another .txt file with who knows how many write-ups that will never see the light of the thread... I guess I could go back to that... Better than me spewing random write-ups all over the thread huh?..

Suppressors and better sneaking sounds good to me, but I still want to get a Wiretap or other form of bug out next turn if possible. Be proactive and give the other team stuff they need to worry about spending time countering instead of spending our actions countering them. Which is, if we're honest, what our actions are mostly being this turn even if getting proper spy pistols out in any form will probably be worth it.

Being able to use the whole year to get spies in place with proper identities would be amazing given that they could possibly store heavier weapons on site beforehand, and likely get into a bigger position of trust. Countering our spies when we're the regular delivery guys is going to be hell for Merkan.

Skill Revision: Deep Sneaking
[2-1]

Long-term infiltration is quite difficult. Especially with our current organizational structure.

An agent must be assigned their mission beforehand and memorize it. This can already lead to some mild issues long term as the possibility of some finer mission details getting forgotten over the years arises. But worse is activation - we must either set a date far in the future for the mission beforehand and hope that it turns out to be a good time, or have the agent routinely check back in at HQ which presents a serious risk of getting exposed.

Then there's the actual placement of the agent inside wherever we want them. Short-term is fine as we can just give the agent the right clothing and knock out the scheduled delivery man. Long-term, we actually need to get the agent a job in exactly the right time and place. Possible, but presents additional logistical challenge.

Ultimately, Deep Sneaking is a very viable idea, but it's hampered by being in a Revision and an unprepared organizational & logistical structure. On the bright side, the time spent on Deep Sneaking thus far has been excellent for laying groundwork that'd make our lives much easier if we were to address it again.

Tech Revision: Suppressor
[5]

While suppressors never really were popular in our armed forces, they did exist. With some tweaking of the original plans and dusting-off of old production lines, we can create them at a scale practical for our uses.

Most of the work here went into creating a global silencer that should be able to be attached onto any traditional weapon we create. Right now, that's the MP54 C and the A-R1942. Both weapons will be considerably quieter with a suppressor equipped. The MP54 C should be quiet versatile in serious infiltration settings and the A-R1942 can be used without waking up the MOLE brass on the other side of the continent - that is to say, the A-R1942 is still quite notable sound-wise but won't instantly alert the police and any armed forces in the vicinity of our presence.
Of course, the suppressor does not scale with the weapon. The louder the gun is, the louder the gun with the suppressor is.

As a cost for its versatility, the Suppressor adds +1 to the expense of anything it's attached to; the A-R1942 S and the MP54 CS (the silenced variants) are both Expensive.

It is now the Operations Phase.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

I've got an idea for when the design phase pops up, the establishment of a higher level of operative, the handler/sector chief, whose job it is to coordinate the actions of various field agents. This way we can actually set up longterm espionage operations without our agents running about willy nilly and criss crossing each other's objectives by accident.

Yeah, deepening the network will make digging our agents out harder for Merkan.

We should probably look into secret radios, or code books, or something to communicate with out stealth agents. Alternatively: Breaching charges!

Operations Phase, 1955

At Human Power Inc., our operatives are sent to sabotage a Merkane office responsible for serving as a vital link between the Merkane government and the corporation itself. After the all-out brawl that took place last year, Command decided to take a more subtle approach now and in the future. While still an aggressive one, they prefer to minimize full-out skirmishes between governmental forces in heavily populated areas. Keep the reasons for war down.
A KOSMIC team is sent equipped with the standard weaponry, instructed to allow only the handful of operatives with a suppressed variant to engage in combat unless absolutely necessary for the non-suppressed weapons to be used.

Unable to sneak in with their weaponry, our operatives simply intimidate their way into the office to begin some serious workplace sabotage. MOLE operatives make their way in after us, at first unknown to us. But quickly, they become apparent. With KOSMIC operatives wielding a limited amount of A-R1942 Ss and MP54 CSs and MOLE agents wielding merely suppressed pistols, though at a greater quantity.

The gunfight is a hectic one, with the after action reports describing taking cover behind cubicles as bullets fly across the interior of the office and even a brief melee scuffle in a break room. Ultimately, KOSMIC pulls through thanks to the suppressed assault rifle.
While we completed our objective, our victory was very close. Even though we had suppressed assault rifles and "machine" pistols, MOLE operatives were all equipped with pistols. We experienced quite a few casualties and apparently numerous operatives almost died out of asphyxiation when floor 34 was suddenly filled with the familiar thick black smoke as MOLE operatives retreated. If our enemy makes any progression in this theater, we may not retain control next year.

KOSMIC is able to obtain significant influence over the Merkane office as it re-opens. Command is ready to sent KOSMIC operatives into the Merkane government. However, Command is not confident in our ability to successfully begin infiltration given the home field advantage MOLE would receive in their own government.
Astria gains further control of Human Power Inc. [A: 4/4; M: 0/4]. Astria can now begin infiltrating Merkan.
If Astria holds control of Human Power Inc. for one more year, they will gain the bonus: +1 to Skills Bug roll.

On the other hand, a strike team sent to a Singleton Arms factory is thwarted by intimidating Merkane weaponry.

The surviving KOSMIC operatives report entry into the facility easy at first, but complications occured later.
One operative believes one of the intimidated guards ran and notified a MOLE agent, which allowed MOLE operatives the surprise on our own.

Once engaged, we were fiercely outmatched. Supposedly every MOLE agent had an assault rifle, which pierced our armor relatively consistently. But one KOSMIC operative saw a new weapon - a relatively large metal-and-wood, reportedly semi-automatic, rifle wielded by some of the MOLE operatives in the gunfight.
While they weren't as mobile as the rest of their team, the new rifle-wielding operatives made very short work of our forces in addition with the apparently Cheap assault rifles.

The surviving KOSMIC agents aren't exactly skilled, even. They survived by simply retreating without the order or by other luck.

Using the defense as a gesture of goodwill, Merkan manages to rid Singleton Arms of any significant Astrian influence.
Merkan gains further control of Singleton Arms [A: 2/4; M; 2/4]

KOSMIC operatives enter a Global League in disguise, concealing several MP54 CSs in small inconspicuous containers, following a MOLE team that we believe was after the same intelligence we were. The plan was to of course acquire the intelligence, though that required opening fire on the MOLE agents making use of the MP54 CS.

Engaging once they were alone with the MOLE team, our operatives made short work of them thanks to the MP54 CSs. MOLE had only smuggled in a couple of their own suppressed pistols. And while the MP54 CS is Expensive, our operatives wielded it in greater quantity than they did their pistol. Most of their operatives were wounded and a few died of their injuries. Eventually, the hostile agents retreated while some of them were still alive.
As such, we won the gunfight and proceeded with the mission. It was a close call getting out before security caught the KOSMIC operatives, but it worked.

With the intelligence in hand, our diplomats at the Global League finally convinced numerous large nations to re-adopt the pro-neutrality stance regarding our two nations that Merkan convinced them to drop last year.
Astria gains further control of Global League [A: 2/4; M; 2/4]

It is now the Design Phase of 1955. Vote for a single Tech or Skill proposal to be worked on as this year's design.

Deep Infiltration:
Continuing our work from the previous year, getting deep-cover operatives has proven to be a much bigger task than predicted. However, the benefits of such agents being in connected places cannot be underestimated. By working on the agent's covers, backgrounds and reporting schemes means that we will have a much better time working and gathering intelligence from right under the enemy's nose; the enemy will find they have no avenue of which to pass our network.

Wiretapping would be of dubious benefit; we don't know if they use any wired communications to transmit orders.

Honestly the Wiretap chances of getting MOLE stuff is basically secondary to the chances of being able to get useful intel on the targets we're trying to get information on at this point. But eventually they're gonna be using more complicated ordery stuff then what I'm assuming is a copy of the memorized orders we started with (and so should we eventually) and even if the wiretap itself is meh the inroads it should lead to more advanced sneaky stuff then 'break or sneak in and steal stuff' is the real reward.

...But actually after reading that turn post I'm kinda pondering on getting gas masks out to keep their smoke grenades from smothering us.
