Jack's expression turned to surprise when Lucette put her hand on his cheek, but he brought his own hand up to cover hers. "Anything I can do to help, I'll do it."

Oddly enough, Keyleth found Skar not far from Ria's flying horse. She didn't know why the two almost seemed to be roosting together, but at least the wyvern wasn't trying to eat the feathery creature. She had a feeling Jack would have words with her if that happened.

As Keyleth tended the wyvern's minor injuries (mostly inflicted by passing tree branches; Skar had done well to avoid the scouting party's weapons), she felt eyes on the back of her head. Looking around, she discovered Ria's pegasus staring at her.

: "...What do you want? I don't have any food for horses."

~Chapter 6~
~With Phobos dead, Jack's group pushes ever further toward Castle Leonowicz. Unbeknownst to most of the group, Jack is wrestling with his responsibility to kill his former master, a duty that draws ever closer. By Rune's guidance, the group moves through a mountain pass in order to save precious time in reaching Joi Hart...~

On an out of the way mountain trail, seldom traveled, a large group of seasoned veterans stood in the cold wind whipping down from the peaks. Among them sat an ancient man, sitting at a ballistae, eyes shut, barely breathing. If one didn't observe him closely, they might mistake him for a corpse. Suddenly, however, his eyes snapped open, and he stood, adjusting the mechanisms of the weapon.

He spoke almost to himself, in a low croak. "They have arrived. Phobos was not able to meet their mettle." He signaled to one of his lieutenants. "Bring the troops to attention. Our quarry will be with us shortly."

Further down the mountain, Keyleth and Ria had been able to spot the force ahead. However, with the nearest pass adding days to their travel time, and the threat of Giarna's research bearing down on them, Jack elected to push through.

"We advance."
