Lucette reeled back a little, wiping her eyes again, clearly having a little bit of emotional whiplash from that sudden turn.
:"H... huh?"

"I... I don't tell people about my career. I'm a warrior, but I'm also an infiltration specialist. You know that." Jack grit his teeth, forcing himself to dredge this up. "The reason I was assigned to this mission is because, of anyone in Ersht, the brass felt like I'd best be able to figure her out. Pick out her moves. Hunt her down. Finish her off. Because I trained with her for years."

Suddenly, Keyleth feels the urge to cringe, groan and hit something, all at once.

Looking towards the source of the urge would find Theodore right behind her, a smug grin written all over his face.
"Hm. Taking a breather, are we?"

Keyleth had been patched up by Lucette before the mafioso maid got dragged off, but she still felt like crap. This wasn't helping her mood.

: "Yes. Is that a problem?"

Evra picked herself off of the ground, her pride a bit wounded from all the dirt-napping she'd just done. She stowed Calo's hat now that the fight was over and began to sit down off by herself, away from any of the conversations. Then quite abruptly, as though she'd just had a sudden epiphany, she picked herself off up off the ground and made her way over to the resident redhead.

"If you do not mind, would you telling me how your magic works? It's fascinating in its own right, but I'm more curious to how you learned it in the first place."

"Not at all. You had an admirable performance back there. You deserve some sort of reward, after all, hm?"

[Sirus]

Keyleth's eyes narrowed as she stared suspiciously at Theo.

: "Are you being sarcastic? My 'performance' was sub-par at best. I think you might have noticed when you were telling me not to die."

Abelard had set that particular tent a bit further from the rest of the group. For certain reasons.

"It's set up. Time for some booze and fun now!"

[Ochita]

Elanee had grinned when the tent was set up.
  "Then lets drink and unwind!" She said with a smile, dragging Abe into the tent after her.

"So you heard that, hm? My, I'd thought you hadn't."

Keyleth resisted the urge to hit the smug man. Why couldn't he just get to the point?

: "I don't know why you would think that. Is there something you wanted, Theo?"

[Swordstar]

"Huh? Oh, my magic..."

Rune frowned for a second, then shook her head.

"No, I suppose it doesn't hurt to share. It's a trick of the trade, I suppose you could say. My mother was a performer, you see. And she used light magic to bend the way people saw things. I'm sure you know that light is the way we see things, right? Well, depending on how light bounces, you see different things. Like the way people in deserts will claim they saw water when there was only ever sand. Well, she took that and replicated it with light magic. Essentially you... start a spell, but you don't release it. You capture the light instead and bend it around your body. She was better at it than I was. She could actually move with those faces on. I'm working on that... Though, I also developed another trick. It's... Well it doesn't work perfectly yet. I want to basically create the illusion of another human being. One that can act like me, as a way to draw attention away from myself essentially. But it's... tricky. To say the least."

[I_Like_Pi]

"Well, I must say that I'm impressed. My use of light magic is much more base, most of it is just casting from my spellbooks. Though, I'm not without my own tricks. I've yet to put it into practice, but I should be able to make the enemy second guess their strikes against me at the cost of countering. Am I going to blow you away or are my movements and chantings purely decoration? It's too hard to tell in the heat of battle and it should be able to provide me more time to move out of the way. We shall see soon enough if our efforts are for naught. "

Evra's mask crackered ever so slightly, allowing a slight smile to slip through.

"So you learned from your mother. I too learned from my mother, I owe everything I know about light magic to her instruction. She's more impressive than even I, if you can believe it. What of your mother? Does she still perform?"

[Swordstar]

Rune looked away, a brief flash of pain in her eyes.

"I... I don't know. I haven't talked to her in... years. When she married my father, she stopped performing as much but... Well, hopefully she is still finding that joy. And your mother? Was she someone I would recognize?"

"Nothing at all. Just making conversation. Is that illegal now?"
