(10,7) and attempt to Halberd the Researcher.

If Jack kills him, try (12,5) and halberd instead.

~Map Complete~

"Alright... During my infiltration before your arrival, I couldn't find any traces of Hart. We've since earned a bit of leeway in how we conduct our search. Sweep the floor. Check for anything that could tell us what they're doing with the annihilation tomes, or where Hart is. Move out."

During the search, the group gains:
Speedwing
Antidote (Staff)
Stilleto: (Dagger-C), RNG: 1 MT: 2, WT: 7 Hit: 70, Crit 0, QL: 20/20
Bypasses DEF
Magical Ring Used by Lucette

Having searched the main floor and found nothing pertaining to the mission, the group proceeds to the smaller upper floor of the facility. There, they find a scribe facility- a dozen desks, one turned over, with papers scattered everywhere. Unbound and unpowered sigils of power, meant to occupy magical tomes.

At the far end of that room stood another door, and when Jack cautiously opened it, a stink of booze filled the chamber the group was standing in, as if it was a distillery. Within the smaller room a man lay across a desk, clutching a mostly empty bottle of wine. "WhaaAat the hell do you want? Come to laugh at Giarna? Get theff fuck out of here." His speech was badly slurred, and it seemed the man could not even raise his head to look at them.

:"Truly, Govitz only employs the best."
Lucette leaned in sideways towards Jack.
:"What's the plan? We're going to interrogate him, yeah?"

Jack nodded, and spoke low. "Yeah. We'll see what we can get out of him." Jack stepped into the little room, and the source of the scent became apparent- there were six more bottles emptied and on the floor.

"Ya do know I can hear-" The man paused for a second, to avoid throwing up, then continued. "Hear you, you know? So that's how you do things, is it Groznij? Cut my funding and then you murder my staff?" The man put his free hand on the table, and with obvious effort, pushed his head up to look at Jack and Lucette. "Well, damn you, ya fuck. Years and years of faithful service and research, and you didn't even have the decency to kill me when you ended my life. Son of a bitch." The man emptied his most recent bottle of wine into his mouth, then dropped it to the ground as well.

Jack watched the display dispassionately. "I assume you're in charge around here."

The man snarled and reached for yet another bottle of wine. "Of course I am! I am Ivan Giarna, head of the Giarna Research Facility and top magical researcher in the whole nation of Govitz! I alone was able to make true improvements upon the workings of the Kalgarian wizards, and what do I have to show for it now?" Ivan waved his free hand to indicate the room. "Nothing. Because results do not come fast enough for Victor Groznij. Pig-fucker." The researcher's eyes focused on Jack, and then Lucette. "...Who are you? And why do you have a cleaning lady with you?"

Theodore calmly watches the proceedings behind Jack and Lucette.

The stink of alcohol. The boorish man before him. The dark, small room before them. Theodore's fortune was made in cider, but it didn't make him a fan of alcohol, not one bit.

A tinge of disgust and unfulfilled wrath fills his eyes. He lets Jack and Lucette handle this, for now.

Keyleth wasn't going to get involved in the interrogation unless Jack asked for a little wyvern-based persuasion. Instead she checked closets and pantries and other hidey-holes, searching for anyone armed and lurking in ambush.

Lucette leaned in once more towards Jack, muttering to him.
:"Are we going to threaten him?"
:"I've got an excellent one he's set himself up for if that's the case. Plus, I'm an expert, you know~"

Abelard had split quite a few heads this last battle thanks to staying on his game, and just as he though he could use a drink while following Jack, he watched with some surprise as they found a drunken man polishing off what was likely the only liquor inside the base.

"Quite the bright fella, ain't he?"

Well, it wasn't enough to sour his mood. He decided to look around for supplies (and alcohol) while Jack conducted his interrogation, making sure not to stray too far from the group.

"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

Jack leaned back toward Lucette. "If he doesn't talk, I'll defer to your expertise." Jack moved closer to Ivan. "Don't worry about why she's here. Just tell me what it is I need to know."

Ivan shakily eyed Jack. "You're... You're not one of the Earl's men, are you? You've got the look of Ersht aboutcha." The man's head sank. "I... I knew it was over. But not like this. Not by a spy."

"I'm not here for you. I'm here for the war hero, Joi Hart. She has something of value to us-"

He scoffed. "Value? Hah! You're talking about that so-called 'Tome of Annihilation' that she brought for the Earl." Ivan tried and failed to remove the cork from another bottle. "Those idiots in Ersht have no idea what their own weapons even are! They're like children swinging branches pulled from a fire."

Rune watched carefully from the back of the group, before pushing near to Jack and quietly whispering,

"He may be more willing to speak to someone from his own land if it comes to that. Just saying. Might work better than torture or whatever your next option is."

He seemed to be willing to talk for now, but that could change quickly enough.
