Messing with advanced worldgen: Part 1: Temperature
« on: September 09, 2017, 09:27:35 am »

Uh, I started this on IRC, so here's the transcript:

[20:25] <KittyTac> so, i'm genning a world with extremely high temperature
[20:25] <KittyTac> remember, draconians have been phased out
[20:25] <KittyTac> so things will probably all die
[20:28] <KittyTac> min temp 100 max temp 200
[20:28] <KittyTac> dorfs died, venenumusi (humanoid, rapid-breeding rats with toxic blood), spreading like crazy
[20:29] <KittyTac> world is savanna-ish
[20:31] <KittyTac> genned one where dorfs didn't die, but effects are not pronounced enough
[20:31] <KittyTac> RRRRRREEERRRROLLLL!
[20:32] <KittyTac> 150 min temp, 200 max temp
[20:34] <KittyTac> ok, got a decent world
[20:35] <KittyTac> renaming it to "half-baked world"
[20:36] <KittyTac> we'll get "sort of baked world", "baked world", "slightly charred world", "burnt world" and "evaporated world"
[20:37] <KittyTac> but first, i'm looking at half-baked world's legends

DISCLAIMER2: I used "Small Region, 125 years, specified temperature"

Ok, I forgot to take a screenshot of the map: but it goes like this: Mountains up north, around them forest and grassland, down below hot savanna and hills.

Here's the stuff from legends:

Lowest site on the map:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Checked legends, no casualties from burning.

Now for Sorta-baked world!

Min temp: 200, max temp 250

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This time, the pole is on the north, and there's a curious lack of settlements at the very north.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Unfortunately, no meltings. I WON'T STOP.

Baked world:

Min temp 250, max temp 400

Basically the same.

* KittyTac is doubting the fruitfulness of this idea.

Slightly charred world:

Min temp 400, max temp 600.

Endless rejects. Aborting project with extreme prejudice.

Heh, that is not tracked as much as it perhaps should be for worldgen. But it can lead to fun situations where adventurers can only travel by underground roads, lest they melt outside outside of very short trips.
