Now, dumb question, but what does the combat skill do again? I’m dumb and can’t find it.  :(

That's because it's not a skill, and doesn't do anything.  You made a mistake when writing up your sheet.  I presume you meant "melee combat", called simply "melee" in this game, since your character has a special butterfly knife, and that rolls on melee.

You can just replace "combat" with "melee" on your sheet, I highly doubt anyone would mind, and it'll let you use your knife more effectively.

What combat skill? Oh syvarris fixed it ._.

Everything written as a skill has its precise general category, and if in doubt you can ask what using a certain thing in a certain situation would do (e.g. Despite me being skilled with Sniper Rifles +3, if I have to ever use it in melee, it'll be "Melee" being used...not that I can move back or roll away and shoot at close range but that's another situation :P)

I can't help but hear all of Robert's lines with the voice of my friend John, who is a pretty big WW2 and Vietnam war nerd (he does re-enactments and we're not even out of school yet. If I had the money to get gear I'd be joining him though. WW2 is cool) and always wears an old jacket and genuine combat boots.

My John is a moderately soft spoken (or at least quiet) tall and wiry dude who speaks with a slight western drawl (for examples, he pronounces it 'Nat-zees' instead of 'not-zees'.

Oh yeah; since it seems tradition to inform people when they're text has been sigged:
Simon: The Shekel bet has been sigged.
Radio: Obviously I sigged that one.
SaberToothTiger: I sigged your glorious speech (and I believe I also included piecewise saying that we all ignored you)
Piecewise: several amusing responses (most notably guidance goblin) have been sigged.

You didn't sig anything, you merely cast a large collection of quotes to the yawning void of the sigtext thread, which nobody reads.
If there's no space restraint to what you can sig, and most people will never even bother to look, what is even the significance of sigging something?

I kinda agree with Egan. It's not really a sigtext, it's a "funny quotes' thread.

I only really consider it sigged if it's directly in the space below the post or the avatar.

Not that I mind the quote collection threads at all. whatever floats your boat.
