Stopping workshops from using stone
« on: October 30, 2007, 10:22:00 pm »

Well, certain kinds of it at least, I am pretty sure there is a way to make it so your workshops don't use certain kinds of stone, right? I just can't remember it >.<

So please help a old senile 14 year old boy and remind me if it is possible/how to do it.

P.S Not economic stones, normal ones like Olivine

... Why would you want to stop them?

They can't be used for anything other than normal rock stuff. Either way, theres no real way to keep dwarves from using a particular non-valuable piece of rock, other than having a stockpile nearby that contains none of that rock.

Because Olivine is green and looks cool.

Thanks for the info, I will have to speed up my giant smooth rock Olivine road contruction.

You can control options for "valuable" minerals in z->stone, but that only affects minerals you can use in the smelter.

However, I'm pretty sure materials are chosen based on proximity, so you could just make sure the dwarf is nearer a non-green stone when you give "regular" build orders. (I know, that's too much of a pain.)

As has been said, keep the olivine far away and other stuff nearer (however you choose to do that with custom stockpiles) and you should be OK.

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.
