Are seeds in demand?
« on: December 30, 2007, 08:31:00 am »

I've generated an interesting world today - there's a mountainside terrifying (evil) desert with magma pools in it, and a 5x4 location that covers desert, adamantine, a big cave river and an equally big chasm. SEED: 2433462330 ; version: v0.27.169.33g (The Cyclopean Universe); coordinates for the cool site: 9/5, where 1/1 is top-left, and 1/16 is bottom-left of the world map. The site is just one tile north of a volcano on the regional map.

Are seeds like this in demand, or are there already too many of them floating around? I was thinking of posting whatever I found on the wiki, but it might be pointless if people already have access to a good mix of maps in this version.

I'd like to see more seeds like this.
Since the last version, the old seeds aren't the same.

So I can plan my embark a little better, could you tell me what to expect in the way of food and forest? Yanno, fishing, plant gathering, hunting, or just farming. Enough trees in the area? Nothing specific, just enough to kick off,

Bloat325, ADDITIONAL LIQUID TYPES, (Future): Candidates for new flowing "liquids" include sand, oil, mud, blood of various sorts, slime, farm products like grain and beer for the beer fountain. Only a limited number of materials from plant raws like beer

An important thing to note is what stone types are in the area. A sedimentary layer, especially one of the flux types, is desirable for steel production because thats where most of the iron and coal is found, plus platinum veins occur in the magnetite. Limestone specifically is best because copper and silver are found in it.

Other than that Granite is good for silver, gold, and tin. Gabbro has gold and platinum and kimberlite for diamonds. Obsidian is also fun for making obsidian swords, and it has aluminum - but this is true of any of the igneous extrusive stones.

This is true, im tired of having a great starting area with nothing but native copper and galena.

As you journey to the center of the world, feel free to read the death announcements of those dwarves that suffer your neglect.

One billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the cosmos. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips, I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my veins. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk and free throw.
