Ruth vigorously healbopped both the sisters until they were pristine.

: "Good as new!"

"Oh, thanks." Aiesha hadn't even requested attention for herself, having used some of her medicine before. Still, the dull soreness that had remained after her own ministrations were washed away by the work of the cheerful girl with the staff.

"What do you say we move this party down to the others?"

Henry started walking toward where Ruth and Galen had went.

"You didn't have to run off so fast, Galen! Anyway, I picked up something I think you could use a little while ago. Here, have a look."

She held the Thunder tome out toward Galen where everyone could see it.

"Howdy. I'm Henrietta. You two all right?"

This was directed at the purple-haired sisters.

[SOLDIER First]

”I’m eager to help.”

Galen looks at the tome and then sheepishly back to Henry.

”Um... I appreciate this, Henry, but it’s an Anima tome. I use Ancient magic... It was nice of you, though.”

“Hey, I have an idea! Here, you can have it.” Galen foists gives the Thunder tome to Sybella along with her Static tome. ”I really don’t need it, so just keep it.”

[SeriousConcentrate]

Henry laughed sheepishly.

"Hell, Galen, you know all that magic stuff goes over my head."

"It's pretty strong stuff though, isn't it? When you aren't holding back, like that spar awhile ago, you can really clean house huh?"

[SOLDIER First]

”Well, that’s okay. It’s not like you’re going to need to know what kind of magic somebody is attacking you with.”

Galen then shrugs, superficially examining his own Flux tome.

”I suppose. Some magic is strong, and some isn’t. It depends more on who you use it on than who uses it, though. If somebody has a high resistance to magic, you’ll do about as much damage as you would if you hit a rock with your bare hands.”

“Thankfully, these bandits were more like plants.”

He pauses.

”Or... Like using another, hard rock on the first one...? Not that you should really... do that . . .”

He trails off in an exceptionally awkward manner.

[SeriousConcentrate]

"I think you meant more like the difference between hitting a tree and hitting a boulder with my axe. The tree will fall eventually but the rock'll just break my weapon if I keep hitting it."

Henry poked Galen in his skinny stomach.

"Still, just because all your strength is inner doesn't mean you get to slack when it comes to physical training. All that magic won't be any use if you're too winded to read when you make it to the fight!"

[SOLDIER First]

”Yeah, like that.”

Galen pokes Henry back. His finger breaks with a horrific snap

”Henry, I’m never too winded to read. That doesn’t even make sense, silly.”

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Oh, yeah? Bet you can't do more squats than I can."

Henrietta did one in perfect form, as if to demonstrate.

"But I'll take a rain check on that for now. We probably ought to get all these civvies to the next fort. We already ran into one gang, so there might be more along the way."

"Ah. Um, thanks..." Sybella sheepishly thanked both Ruth and Galen at the same time.

She turned to address her sister.

"Should we get going then, sis? ...To wherever it is we're going?"

"Well, if these Shields are offering us an escort to the nearest forts... I think we may as well accept." It wasn't as though the two had a real destination in mind. And who knows, maybe Sybella might learn a little something from Galen. Interdisciplinary study wouldn't hurt, at least.

They did say bandits were really active here; next time might not turn out so well... "There isn't really any reason not to, I guess."

[SOLDIER First]

”Okay, good. We’re going to be heading towards Fort Ashton and then back the way we came to Fort Raivo in a few days. Why don’t we all prepare and then group up with Ruth when you’re ready to go?”

[Chevaleresse]

“Hey, by the way... Did any of those bandits have a sword on them? A really nice-looking one?”

"I actually found one over here."

[SOLDIER First]

"Oh, that's great! It used to be my dad's... I mean, it was a friend of my dad's. The bandits stole it from him, and I was trying to get it back when they robbed me too."

"You can keep it until we get to the fort. You look like you know how to use it better than I could. ...If I can come too, I mean..."
