"I know I heard fighting, but it's gone now. No one coming towards us either." Aiesha noticed when Beatrice pointed over the cliff. "Everyone alright up there? Besides the bandits, obviously."

"Y-yeah, we'll be alright. . ."

: "Happy ta help, sugar, but what were you doin' out here if ya don't know how ta fight?"

: "Everyone's alright up here, how y'all doin' down there?"

[SOLDIER First]

"I, uhh... They tried to rob me, but I ran. I live in the middle of Verduuni Forest.” Beatrice looks away from Ruth.

”Well... I’m glad that’s over with. You two down there, are you travelers? The roads are supposed to be a little safer than this... You weren’t attacked, were you?”

: "Aw hayl, what're ya doin' all tha way in there without knowin' how ta fight? Ya know that's bandit country."

: "Tell ya what, we were just on our way ta Fort Ashton. If'n ya need an escort back home or to the fort, I reckon we can oblige."

"Oh yeah, we had a bit of a fight with these guys. We're alright though, we know how to take care of ourselves." Aiesha looked over at her battered sister.

"Well, I know how to take care of us anyway."

[SOLDIER First]

"I’ve always lived there, with my mom and dad. Dad is really sick, so we can’t just pack up and move.”

“And then those stupid bandits had to chase me across the whole stupid forest. If they hadn’t, they’d still be alive right now...”

“Wait, really? You could? That would be really great of you. This Fort Ashton has a lot of Shields there, right?”


”I’m glad you weren’t hurt. Those bandits seemed like they were a cut above the rest.” Galen then notices Sybella’s tome and approaches her excitedly, nearly slipping as he makes his way down the logs.

”Hey, that’s an Anima tome! Do you mind if I see it? There aren’t a lot of other people in our division who use it, so I don’t get to look at them very often.”

Sybella glowered at her sister.

"I can take care of myself just fine!" She declared indignantly. Her glower softened as she explained herself. "It's just, everything started to click when I felt like my strength was almost exhausted... I didn't want to risk messing it up."

"Uh, sure? Just be careful with it, I only have the one. And that's my favorite subtype of Anima."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"That sounds rough. We'll be glad to escort you, won't we?"

She glanced at Ennis and Bleddyn and would have at Galen but he was already taking off down the hill to hit on what appeared to be a pair of sisters. Henry made a dismissive, 'eh, forget you' wave at his back and returned her attention to Beatrice.

"Anyway, my father was an apothecary! I may not know everything he did but I picked up a lot. What's your dad sick with? Could be that if I can get the right ingredients I could make some medicine for him."

"You shouldn't be risking your health for a little magic boost. If you're hurt, you need to treat yourself." Aiesha looked at Galen as he inspected Sybella's tome. "So, who're you? And what is your group doing out here?"

Ennis nods at Henry.
"'Course. Us country girls got ta' stand up for each other, right?"

[SOLDIER First]

”Don’t worry, I will.”

He flips carefully through the pages, comparing some of the writings to that of his own tome. Galen’s excited expression soon turns to a slowly widening frown.

”...Wow, this stuff is complicated. I can’t understand any of it.”


"We don’t know. He’s always so tired. He used to be really tough and strong, but now he just spends all day in bed... Do you really think you could help?”


”Oh, that’s right! My friends and I are with the Shields of Caermo. We, um, basically just fight bandits. It’s nice to meet you, I’m Galen.”

"Aiesha, and this is my younger sister, Sybella. I guess we didn't really need to do anything after all, if fighting bandits is your job. But since we did end up helping you, needed or not, do you have a healer with you? My sister isn't in the best shape right now."

[SOLDIER First]

”We do! She’s the leader of our squad, Ruth. And she would probably heal you anyway even if you didn’t help.”

“Ruth, can you come down here? Someone needs healing.”

[IronyOwl]

: "Sure can!"

Ruth comes on over, ready for some indiscriminate healbopping.
