I bought a copy of XP as quickly as I could for my new computer; I heard they would stop selling it in 2008, and didn't want to get stuck with the pile of dogshit Vista.

I guess I should try turning weather off. For the rest, I'm not stupid enough to jump the Vista bangwagon (sorry to hear other people wasted money on that!) and I tryied increasing priority to DF and it turned out to be slower than faster...

I could see into having less civs too, but what really slow my game down is the sheer number of items laying around my fortress in my late games. Especially rocks... Game also crawl to a halt after a few years when I try to do any major wall construction...
