(v)iew dwarf, type teleport -showunitid into console. This returns the units id.

place cursor on ground, type teleport -unit unitid with the unitid being the number you got earlier.

Or use the vanilla method of building stairs or chop down the tree (the later involves some risk of injury). It's not DFHack, as requested, though, but Fleeting Frames has already covered that.

Isn't there a command that lights a tile on fire? Light the tree on fire. He will end up on the ground eventually.

Don't you need to add a down stairway on top off the up stairway too for the dwarf to find it?

I think it's cheating. Just chop the thing down. Hospitals are effective anyways.

I consider this argument #2 for lighting the tree on fire.

Hospitals can't resurrect dwarves, though. They're not that effective.

~4 z-levels does not kill a dwarf, generally.

No, but remaining stuck in the tree while it burns down has much less of a survival rate.

Sure. Then why not just, y'now, chop it down?

Might as well. The corpse will otherwise scare off caravans.

Give a dwarf a fire and he will be warm for a night. Set a dwarf on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life.

This is argument #3 for burning down the tree, as if it fails it will leave no body.
