They'll have to rebalance but it could take months depending on their priorities. If they're close to another expansion they'd have to rebalance again, so might wait.

I've seen some weird stuff with the Split engines, and overall, the idea that Corvettes are faster than fighters is really weird to me. Only good things about heavy fighters, to me, is that they fit into docks.

IIRC Split philosophy is to have high DPS, low shields and above average hull. For engines, I think they have faster Boost values and lower Travel values.
They are pretty bad for AI/wingman ships with low skill Captains, since the constant low-shields make them go into evasives instead of strafing with their crazy burst DPS weapons.
Still, I had 10 Dragons as my escorts and only large fleet engagements would cause issues.

The Split weapons, when used by the player, are pretty OP, especially when using the in-game modifiers/upgrades.

I haven't played in a while but 3.30 adds the ability to transfer crew in bulk, finally! Since I do a lot of boarding, that alone will make it much better.

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.

I mean it does sort of make sense from a (yeah I know) "realism" standpoint.

Like if you have a vessel 3x the size of another, but you can put engines 4x as powerful due to, say, sacrificing maneuverability due to mass because you can put a giant power plant into the big ship, then it should probably be able to go faster than the smaller ship in a straight line.

Alright, so officially, my HQ is the docks of my Medium Cobra(or similar).  I just stand there and direct things as my ship does it's business.

Bonus points watching the turrets go off at enemies.

standing on a bridge or other viewpoint and directing the action is my favorite thing ever. it was the highlight of x:rebirth thanks to modders, and it is still my favorite thing in x4.
im working though some other games but i was waiting for x4 to get patched up and i've put it on the list after the 3.30 patch.

Ah yes, the insatiable lust of corn and rice, clearly two of the most erotic foods.

Ah right, I have been leaving the game running 24/7 borderless window works.

Apparently the Telari are getting pushed back, they lost their capital trade post and equipment docks.  About to lose another of their trading posts.  Actually the whole southeast Telari domain is going to fall to the Xenon.  The galactic highway is under threat of Xenon control. (At least the Telari cousin faction are still able to sell Telari shields to me on the cheap.)

I am in serious need of Xenon K busters.  Cause that is what is nuking the Telari with near impunity.
I tried sending in a single S fighter with Ion Mk2 weapons to see what sort of damage I could do.  Nada.  The meter flitted back from 99% to 100% from each shot.  Maybe I need more to actually make an impact.

Wow, cool. I've heard multiple stories of people having some pretty crazy Xenon incursions, but on my game, Xenons got held back by everyone except by the FRF (Split Free Families).

I'm curious to see what will happen once I get back to my save, because FRF actually had some problems associated with it that got patched. I think it had too few resources or military ships to start with, so pretty much Xenon would keep their space nearly clean of civilian or military ships. In my game, FRF is constantly besieged by Xenon, but they limit themselves to raids without capitals for some reason.
Meanwhile, HOP (pink xenophobic paranids) and Xenon war was going crazy and kept pretty balanced, but since I eat HOP for breakfast (I cap their ships and turn them into my Military and Trade fleets), Xenon has slowly started breaking through the bottom-left of the map.
It's pretty funny that my actions would end up opening a Xenon pandora box right between the gates of both of my allies (ARG and PAR).

Not really sure if stuff was working properly on my game (it was a 3.10 save I think, or 3.20) - I really feel like the Xenon and ARG could've obliterated HOP and FRF and flooded PAR territory since - on my save - they have really weak patrols and military fleets.
PAR actually pisses me off since they only act and try to land-grab sectors that I have liberated while never throwing a fleet at HOP to help me out when I'm forced into an actual non-boarding, non-piracy engagement.

I am in serious need of Xenon K busters.

I feel dirty suggesting this, but in my experience..nothing deletes stuff faster than a Nemesis or Dragon filled with Torpedo Launchers and Heavy Torpedoes flown by yourself.
Nemesis works better for that due to the shielding, with Combat Engine. Modded parts makes it even more lethal and easy to use.
Since torps keep the speed of the ship that launches them, you can keep flying at 3k m/s and above, drifting around enemy capitals launching 5 Heavy Torps per salvo. I believe a couple of well-shot salvos kill the best destroyers, or at least makes them sitting ducks for any other ship to finish them off. You can kill whole squads of destroyers this way very quickly, but if it's a really large engagement it's hard to survive if you're forced to slow down.

Of course, this is a reasonably expensive tactic and doing it too much will drain the supply of Missile Components of the whole galaxy. It happened on my game and no one has missiles to sell to me anymore, so I'll have to make my own.
Later on if you grab hold of a Resupply Ship and fill it with Missile Components, you can have a squad of such Capital Killer Corvettes that are repaired and rearmed near instantly right in front of the enemy fleet.

It's still a lot less expensive than running squads of Rattlesnakes and Raptors filled with fighter wings. Rattlesnakes are damn assassins in IS combat, and supported by Raptors they are pure evil.

So...  I saw that there was a mod that made some fundamental changes.  VRO

Including the fact that I now see significantly more XL boats that are not K-types running around and I've kept the previous game running for more then 4 days.  So they had more then enough time to make more XL boats like the Xenon obviously did.

EDIT:Trading is actually slightly more dangerous this time around, Xenon are getting through the cracks with bigger raiding parties everywhere.  I’ve had to close off access to the ZHY’s section in the northwest cause of the Xenon setting up a buncha stations along the route there.
Other formerly peaceful kingdoms are getting pressured this time around. Some systems have actually changed over to Xenon hands.
The Telari hotspot is constantly raging, but they are actually holding their ground, for now.  Just that they are slowly getting shafted in the back by the other races.
I probably should be in a bigger rush to grow my empire.

Another case of modders being needed to fix a game. This was about 25-50% true in X3, mostly on the AI side.

X3 needed the mods that added the extra command functionality for your ships and also added ways for the different factions to interact with each other.

Enough that almost a dozen mods were made official if you paid for the premium version of the game. One of which was just to make traders work intelligently.

Is there a good one of those? There was an X3 mod that got some traction but never got fully fleshed out.

I haven't officially started it besides videos, but this one is probably the best for X4

https://www.nexusmods.com/x4foundations/mods/349

No steam workshop page, and doesn't support the latest DLC (has to be turned off) for another week or so till a patch comes out. But it'll be save compatible when it updates. Though it requires the other DLC to be on, and when the update comes out all DLC will be required
