The weird thing is that I'm pretty sure that for player stations, this sort of storage limit is in, and it only breaks unless you manually dump random cargo, I think.
Hacking the station storage is a quick and dirty workaround for that.

That is one fix. Though it is affecting multiple shipyards and wharfs. I started a new game to see if that fixes it.

Been working on a YT Let's Play for X4. So far thankfully haven't encountered any bugs that are grinding my playthrough to a halt. The poor trader AI seems to have been resolved (they are finally making decent profits). Also, for the first time I noticed some faction vs faction combat and it seems like the world is getting a bit dangerous again. Too bad the fleet behavior sucks and your escorts can't stay close to their fleet commander. Seems like standard Egosoft AI problems and they'll iron it out. I am mostly happy with the changes coming from X Rebirth, and some of things they focused on that were good from X3.

Oh yeh, the 1.50 patch will probably be pretty darn good (and may include some surprises), but I'll probably be waiting for better fleet AI and control, fixes to station destruction/damage, and station subordinate AI fixes.

The AutoTrader mod is underway and the modder now made it's cheaty options optional, so if you're unhappy with the vanilla ones you can try those. There also seems to be a new auto trader mod but I haven't tested that one out.
I also tried out the mod that makes L ships (Destroyer) main weapons fire 1000% faster, and it's pretty fun - although firing 3-4x faster would probably be enough. It's pretty weird that I had more fun with Rebirth main guns while in X4 they are..useless and boring.

I am extremely interested in this game and I'm glad we have a thread for it. X3 was one of my very favoritest space sim games.

That said, my Steam categories run "Games", "Old Crap", "Just Crap" and "X-Rebirth". I don't want it touching my other games, you see.

X4 looks great if rough right now and I'm gonna hang around in this thread until I pick it up (hopefully this Christmas).

Patch 1.50 is up and sending ships to other players universes is now a thing. That was the Christmas surprise. Changelog here.
There's a lot that can be asked or discussed about the feature, but I'm interested to see where they'll take it. More info can be found on their Wiki, here.

It seems modified games can't send out ships, but can receive them. That probably means no Ventures for me, maybe ever..  :P

I also see that you can gain "EgoCredits" (says on the Wiki it's for future use), and from what I heard from an interview from the lead dev, they are clearly looking into microtransactions and probably wondering if they could have it in their games. The example he gave of cool microtransactions was Elite Dangerous paint mods, which AFAIK is not a bad thing (I can't remember the price of customization stuff in E:D) and wouldn't be THAT bad on X at first glance, except that it would be a singleplayer game with a weird microtransaction system added to it..
Knowing a bit of the community, some people would just make mods to ignore or bypass microtransactions if that ever happens - there's already a mod that makes all paint mods available to buy from in-game traders anyway, for example.
Just stressing that what I say above is pure speculation, although it's too easy to speculate on, given what's out there.

PS: I'm not even gonna mention the obvious shitstorm that could brew up if people start saying they are implementing an online-feature + microtransactions framework in an incomplete, unfinished and buggy game. Oh well, I just did..

You can no longer teleport to any non-player station, how unfortunate, now I will have to fly to go talk to representatives. I guess that is one way of fixing being able to teleport to xenon shipyards.

@Gabeux
Your first link is not working ;-;

I would be fine with cosmetic-only micro-transactions. Anything past that would be massively disappointing to me.

Fixed the link - it leads to the official Egosoft video about the patch and feature. :)

I'm usually quite forgiving about cosmetic only micro-transactions, but it seems absolutely ridiculous to have them in a single player game - especially one with a huge focus on building/customising. If there's a lot of movement with your ships into other players universe I can kinda see it, but it seems forced in just for the sake of making money rather than being to increase anyone's enjoyment.

I mean, it'd be way more enjoyable to earn that customisation wouldn't it?

It seems really as though they're wanting to make it a sort of MMO-lite which I think is them not really understanding what the player base want again. It seems as though there's a lot of good ideas at the Egosoft HQ, and then one or two people with just really terrible ones. Rebirth had a lot of good ideas, and then some god awful ones - it makes me think that there's someone relatively senior who just comes out with a lot of rubbish and everyone has to put up with it.

So doing some theorycrafting. The best freighter appears to be the sonra sentinal, which is bought from the antigon republic. Main reason for that is it holds 43k storage and travels at 3100. The vanguard version gets 33k and goes 3500, which is worse in my opinion.

Sounds like a whole lot of reduced cargo for a whole lot of not-that-much-more speed.

How fast is a pirate fighter? Presumably that speed boost won't let you outrun/combat one better, no?

Wont mater, travel mode gets disabled when you get shot and stays disabled for 5 seconds or so. Out of travel mode the ship goes 125, so its kind of a sitting duck without turrets or an escort. I have not tried buying one yet, but I plan to, fully fit it looks to cost 8 million.

For reference, most S ships go 200-500 normally.

Ok so similar speed ratios to X3, it sounds like.

Yeah that just sounds like a terrible trade-off, then. Maybe if you need a couple ships to move smaller amounts of things between your own stations in a safe setting? Is it cheaper than the larger cargo version?
