After finding out that animal people can migrate over an ocean, I'm thinking of creating my first 257x257 pre-set value map - mostly like pocket, expect with rest of the space filled with 100ish tile biomes containing megabeasts and animal people.

Can't do the geography specifics now, though, as caves change it - and I desire to see the new kobolds.

With the new kobolds and trivial modding you could start a raiding party and steal artifacts!

Not terribly excited about stealing bone or wooden artifacts.

More excited about perhaps finding a prisoner demon ruler, and then stealing that. Not sure if possible, but would be cool.

Less than a year to go before Mythgen starts development. Woohoo!

And ~4 years before my games start featuring everything exploding!

I have an idea for a community fortress I want to start, but since the release is so close I think I'll just wait until it comes out so I get to enjoy all the cool new features in the aforementioned fortress. Meaning that my hype for the new release is combined with the hype of starting the community fortress, so I'm really, REALLY hyped right now.

The trick is to only make predictions semi-seriously.  That way, I don't have a 98% failure rate. I have a 98% sarcasm rate.

It'll be quite a while before the release is stable enough to play a community fortress. Things are bound to break if everyone upgrades every few days which each new update. And some won't upgrade due to lack of dfhack during their turn or whatever. Community fortress with everyone on different df versions? Fun, but not quite the right sort.

Start now, dorfs may all be dead within a month. Just in time for the release.

Well, then I want to sign up! But devise some doomsday device if they do, to make the fort go off with a bang.

I can't wait to send out dwarven raiding parties atop war elephants... It's been my dream ever since starting to play DF...

Though same here, drunken cast testing was one of my favourite things to do.

But, see, this new release will be a major game-changer. Interest in my fort will die down pretty quickly after the release since I won't be doing all the stuff everyone is so hyped about.

Not if they got invested, or if they're waiting for 0.45.06 instead of buggy .01. And with October or November release, if they're not invested by then they were never very invested.

Hype Train, DF style :)

I've not had a lot of time to play lately, but I'm looking forward to starting a few fortresses and seeing how they go horrifically wrong in the new release.
