Bio:
A volunteer hailing from Locklann Island who can trace her ancestry down a long line of mostly ordinary peasants. Her parents have broken this mold somewhat, being accomplished dark mages in service to the local lord. They had three children - Eileen is the youngest, and the only daughter.
From a young age, she idolized her oldest brother, following him everywhere and attempting to pursue the same interests as he did. Neither of them were magically gifted like her other brother, but their lord was generous in training them when they asked. Her brother learned how to ride a horse and wield a lance, and she tagged along on a pegasus once she was old enough, though she was never much good at it. When her brother decided to take on the bandits ravaging central Caermo all by himself, it took everything their parents had to keep Eileen from chasing after him and joining him in the fight. She was too young, and they were afraid of losing both of them.
Her brother did return, but he did so a bitter man. He argued with their parents, drank the money he had away, and eventually stopped going to town entirely save for special occasions.
One day, after a particularly harsh argument that left both of them in tears, he came to her to apologize. She had already resolved to travel the world at this point, determined to somehow confront whatever it was that had hurt her brother, given that she had failed at doing so at home - but what her brother asked of her was that if she did leave that she joined the Caermoan Defense Force, even giving her some of his identifying documents so she could possibly have a better in to the group, as apparently he had had several friendly run-ins with them while attempting to combat the bandit menace.
Then at least she'd be paid, he said.
Perhaps he also thought that among veterans of the war, she would be better protected. Perhaps he thought that it was the only way she would come to understand what had happened to him. Perhaps he simply wanted to live vicariously through her - but whatever his reasons, what he said lit a fire in her, and not in the way he'd hoped.
When she left, she left to join the Shields of Caermo instead. She would show her brother that the cause he'd fought for alone was still worth fighting for - that something good and just could exist, that someone like her, like him, could make a difference for the better and give to others without asking anything back - and many other such idealistic things.
But first, she would probably have to figure out how to use her lance properly.
