Screw it, let's just get this started.

Should I start a new thread for the actual game, or use this one?

Up to you, might as well contain it in this thread though imo, one page of setup isn't that bad especially when looking at certain other threads on this board >.>

edit: Also I really enjoy that we're playing an old version, a 40d playthrough should be in order next after this one.

Intro

Excerpt from the journal of Kadol Zassavot, Mechanic

14th Obsidian, 1050

Our departure draws near. Site is called ‘Bronzeices’: a name happily unburdened by implications of greatness, mystery, or excitement. I know not what the King thinks we can achieve there. I question if the King really cares for anything anymore. Perhaps Armok may grant me purpose.

Erith insists that mule meat is twice as nutritious as pork. She loads two barrels of it. This makes me sad, but Erith is a friend. I shall suffer it for the first few months. Urist looks murderous.

17th Obsidian, 1050

We leave tomorrow. Our number is eleven.

Sigun insists that plump helmets are the most efficient crop. He takes a laden sack of spawn. I sneak a few sweet pod seeds onto the wagon. The rum will flow at Bronzeices.

20th Obsidian, 1050

Ratmen blocked our path on the road. They asked for goods. We gave them death. Ilral bloodied her sword for the first time since we left, and killed two. Astesh hewed a leg, and Urist struck the killing blow. Doren strangled and killed a ratman. Bomrek was cut by iron.

23rd Obsidian, 1050

Bomrek is dead from infection.

25th Obsidian, 1050

Fire and spears. The ratmen cut us off at the pass. Mosus (friend), Erith (friend), Cog (noble): dead. Many ratmen: dead. We burn the bodies.

28th Obsidian, 1050

The year ends. I see Bronzeices on the horizon. Several of the dwarves now look to me for leadership; I know not why. Shall confer regarding plans for the year. Armok has not given me purpose. I will make my own.

Meeting Notes, Obsidian 1050:

1) Zasit makes cruel joke about friend Bomrek who is dead of Unmeb's Fever. It is terrible.

Part One

Excerpt from the journal of Kadol Zassavot, Mechanic

1st Granite, 1051

There is no time for reflection. It is time for action. Urist began to tunnel out a future for the dwarves of Bronzeices. I asked Astesh to cut some trees, that we may build wooden tools. Sigun refuses to speak to anybody. Mosus the Dead was his brother.

4th Granite, 1051

Urist has agreed to tunnel out building-caves for our workshops. I grow bored, so I will build a Mechanic’s Shop in which to tinker, and a Carpenter’s Shop, so that Astesh stops swinging that axe around. She makes me a little nervous.

6th Granite, 1051

My workshop was finished today. I spent much of the day engrossed in my work. When I work, I feel nothing. I can forget what happened at the pass.
It has started to rain.

9th Granite, 1051

Astesh has tired of chopping trees and is now decimating the turtle population in the nearby pond. She sits in a heap of shells by the shore, occasionally lunging to snatch one out of the water with her bare hands.

I need to build a fishery.

10th Granite, 1051

Zasit spots a herd of great beasts on the horizon. They do not appear to be aggressive. I am not afraid.

Sigun is no longer refusing to talk.

12th Granite, 1051

Doren was not at the wagon this morning. Astesh told me not to worry. Astesh is still carrying that axe.

15th Granite, 1051

We found Doren trapped in the newly-built Fishery. Apparently she bricked up the doorway by mistake. She smelled strongly of valley herb. I will have to keep an eye on this one.

19th Granite, 1051

The great beasts are coming a little too close to the river-crossing. I asked Ilral to stand watch there.

22nd Granite, 1051

A single leopard approached the crossing, but when it saw Ilral it fled. The mighty warriors of Ducim Bål are fearsome to behold.

26th Granite, 1051

I have begun to excavate living space for the dwarves, and have made plans for Kennels and a Mason’s Shop (sketch enclosed).

28th Granite, 1051

Our first month at Bronzeices has been uneventful, but productive. I am proud to claim these lands in the name of the Mountainhomes.

p.s. The entire supply of valley herb has vanished. Doren claims she has not seen it.

p.p.s. Astesh is still carrying that axe.
