"I was hoping for some shiny weapons."

"Money exists to be spent, after all."

[Caellath]

"Hey, do you know where is the person are we supposed to talk to?!" But the scholar was gone.

"Let's meet up up with Ethan and give him the news."

Then he led the trio out of the house and started looking for weaponsmiths, where they'd likely find Ethan searching for axes. Hopefully.

[Caellath]

Claude found Ethan and Lavinia after some searching. Apparently they hadn't gotten involved in any bar brawls just yet.

"The scholar had no idea what the orb is about aside from being magical. He told us to head to the House of Scholars, south-west from Di, in the middle of the mountains. He also told us there's someone around with links to the place who could take us there, but he wouldn't tell who that was."

"How about you, how were the prices?"

[Gaterhyme]

"I was hoping for some shiny weapons."

"Ha! You and me both, captain."

That was about when Claude came in and dumped all the information on them. She blinked, then shrugged easily.

"Weapons are pretty expensive, to hear him tell it. Staves around 500, vulneraries around 300... You can check it out yourself."

"But what I'm really hearing is, you do the shopping, and we'll go shop around for this person. That right?"

[Caellath]

"That sounds like the average price, and I can check the weapons. No competition around to drop prices, I assume. That also makes it nearly impossible to haggle since they have the upper hand by holding local monopoly." Claude commented while recovering his notebook from a pouch and checking the pages.

"And the purchases will depend on our current needs. Weapon-wise, my sword can keep going for a long while, and I'm still learning how to handle heavier blades. We should, however, get some medicine. You spent yours completely, didn't you?"

[Gaterhyme]

"I did. Part of it was on you, so don't start." Despite the look on her face, her tone wasn't completely serious.

"Carrying Lysander's, though."

[Caellath]

"Pfft. I wasn't going to complain. That means it's at least one vulnerary added to the list. How's Lysander's doing?"

[Haspen]

"House of Scholars? Is that somewhere inland? We will need to hire bodyguards. I don't trust my fighting skills on land as much as I do at the sea. Let's see if there are any mercenaries in the tavern. Or if someone there knows where this House of Scholars is." Ethan marched to the nearest tavern.

[Solymr]

And so the group went to the local tavern, "Salt and Sanctuary". The tavern keeper there was quite helpful.

Mercenaries? Well yah, some people came 'ere lookin' for work. I'll tell yah. The keeper pointed to a few people around, including a girl who stood out for her strange robes.

"And we still have to find that someone with a connection to the House of Sch-" Claude cut himself short as soon as he noticed the oddly-robed girl.

"Ahaha, I hope this isn't just a coincidence."

[Aliemma]

Maria was sitting down by herself, looking over a mini-checklist she had made. Her lance was leaning on her, though she put it under her arm every once in a while. She looked up when a group entered the tavern.

Oooh, maybe they're hiring! Something to do!

Despite this, she didn't bother them. Well, yet.

[Swordstar]

"If we are looking for people, We should try and find a magic user. Maybe also someone with a mount who would be able to scout for us? Like the Captain said, land isn't our strength necessarily so finding people more confident than us would be smart."

[Caellath]

"That's reasonable. Let's interview them and let's make it quick."

Claude got to a fairly visible spot in the tavern and started calling the attention of all the prospective new members.

"You, you, you and you. You're all looking for a job, correct? I'm part of Ethan Valle's crew. He's the captain of the Blackbones, a privateer ship. We're looking into making a small inland expedition and we need some extra hands for the work. What are your skills?"

[Sirus]

The woman in robes spoke up, hesitantly but firmly.

: "I'm...afraid there might have been a slight...misunderstanding with the proprietor. I'm not looking for work. I'm trying to head inland myself, and I was hoping to travel with a larger group for protection." She paused, summoning up some nerve, then added "If you happen to be going anywhere near the House of Scholars, then perhaps I could tag along with your 'expedition'?"

"Oh are you a part of the order there? We have some questions for them, so having someone who knows the people there would be extremely helpful."
