Maria chuckled to herself a little; even if the mage didn't like his forefather's pride, he sure did inherit it. She did notice the bird disappearing, and Ophia seemed a little surprised by it; kinda hard to explain to a horse that it won't reappear behind ya and burn your tail off. Still though, that last bit did remind her that apparently they were saving the world now... It's not like she forgot; far from it. But... she thought it was the kind of thing that just doesn't seem real. It still didn't in a way, but... Hmm, would spirits focused in that crystal ball always lie? Who knows; well, whoever first made it, but she was no historian.
"Well, I can't just hear your tale and not think about helping, now can I? Either way, I'll be sure to pay it forward someday. Granted, this whole saving the world business usually takes a while, and I ain't good enough to teach much. Riding, mayyybe lances..."
"And I know ya said not to worry about it, but I'll try, really. Hell, you trust me enough to talk about it, it's the least I can do." Her horse kept nudging her as she finished up the conversation.
"Give me a minute, Oph. You'll get off this boat in a second"
"Either way, you're probably right. Most of the crew's probably waiting somewhere for us, so we can look for the... Whatever kind of great treasure it is... I don't think that woman said... Let's get going, anyway."
With that, Maria quickly got her horse ready, in case they ran into more people out for Ethan's blood, and wallet. She did let Alain and any others disembarking out before her, if only because of her horse. Wherever they were needed, she hoped that this was the real start of this quest. It was exciting no doubt, but... These artifacts were probably super strong focuses or something... The power one could have with only one was kinda scary. This group seemed to have pretty good people in terms of mages; she hadn't talked to that Vortai guy yet, but he seemed harmless... Relative to magic users, anyways.
