Just as with the horses, the mage felt his focus slowly intensify as threat after threat reared its ugly head. Bobbing and weaving past one assault after another, in time his movements became so fluid it seemed as though he danced his own flames, searing heat and choking fumes consuming one enlisted man after another. Infact, the only ones who were spared his wrath were the Ballisticians on the far deck, and though he'd been able to see and shift out of the path of the first bolt, his own confidence got the better of him.
      And his reward was a pristine arrow, clean through the shoulder. With no small amount of indignation, he snapped both the head and the flething off, before removing the shaft and applying some of his own flames to seal the wound closed for now. By the time the Knight's retainer rode up, he'd already been searching for another target. Though who was he to shoo her off, if she'd come to help?

And by the time she'd rode off again, he'd found his quarry. A volley of flame erupted from his palm, raining down upon the enlisted...
