Claude had a cocky smile plastered on his face. He'd already wounded his opponent and now he was going to finish the job and all but win the contest since the knight up ahead looked like a case for Ethan. The newly-made privateer was mid-swing when Lavinia appeared out of nowhere and stabbed his target.

"What?" At first he didn't even understand it. His swing slowed down to hit a man that was already a corpse.

"What in the heavens, Lavinia? I was fighting this one and he was going down.

He was used to losing only to his brother and no one else. Losing stung even during a friendly competition, and he was going to show why he made an habit out of winning.
