"I don't... really think I could stop Ash if she decided to go for it... Could you stop, uh, whatever her name is?"

[Zetaark]

"Gawen is her name. As for stopping her, the two of us would be in all sorts of trouble if I wasn't able to. That being said, I'm not convinced I could stop a full-scale brawl myself if it were to come to that," she responds, taking a deep breath afterwards and looking towards the abbess.


"How do you think the abbess is feeling about all of this?"

[Swordstar]

"Probably wishing she'd never let us in..."

[Zetaark]

"Yeah. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if she just had someone from the abbey deliver the thing," she sighs, taking a glance around. "Your group seems to be an interesting bunch. You said you were employed under the Alvadan rulers correct? Were they aware of this jewel at all, or did you happen upon it while on some other mission?"

[Swordstar]

"We... found it. We're... well, we're privateers. I guess lots of people would call us pirates, but we're not. But we were commandeering a Domarian merchant ship and an old man who seemed... crazy had the orb. So we took it since it seemed important."

[Zetaark]

"I see. Now I'm hoping the man's craziness was caused more by his age than the orb. I'd rather not have this become an everyday occurrence. I say as if it's not already one for me." she muses, mumbling the last part to herself.

"At any rate, what led you to becoming a privateer for the Alvadan rulers if I may ask?" she says, trying to get her mind off of the other train of thought she was heading towards.

[Swordstar]

"Ah, that's... Uhm..."

Lysander stared at the ground for a few seconds, clearly trying to gather up the nerve to say something.

"I'm from a merchant family. From Zeekonrik. But my family's ship... I guess the easiest way to explain is they rescued me off one of the pirate ships they fought. I was being forced to heal them and Ethan and his crew saved me. So I chose to join their crew to help pay back everything I owe them."

[Zetaark]

"Oh. I see," she replied, unsure how to properly respond. Her mind wandered to what may have become of his family, but she wasn't about to pry into that any further.


"Well, since you were kind enough to humor my request, would you like to hear a bit of how I ended up with Gawen?

[Swordstar]

She didn't push. He was grateful for that. Instead she offered an alternative.

"Yes, I would like that a lot. Have you known her for a long time?"

[Zetaark]

"The two of us have known each other for quite some time now. Back then, before we met, most of my time was spent working on healing magic. At some point, there was a local tournament of sorts, and I volunteered as one of the on-duty healers. Gawen happened to be competing at the time, and as I was treating her she offered me work as a retainer. Since then, the two of us have been with each other through thick and thin. Mostly thick, but nothing too terrible yet," she chuckles, recalling some of the other incidents the pair have gotten involved with.


"At any rate, that's the story. Now I work primarily as Gawen's retainer and keep her from getting into too much trouble, but I also still work on my magic when I get the opportunity." she finishes.

[Swordstar]

"I noticed your staff work, yes. Though you also seem to fight. I... just recently decided to try and fight as well. I'm sticking with knives though. Swords are too heavy for me."

[Haspen]

"Ashlyn will keep it."

[Solymr]

: It's settled, then? I don't want any fights inside here so if you still have a problem take it outside, but I'll send someone with you to make sure you don't all end up forgetting your part. Vortai! Where are you, boy?

The abbess went out of the room again, and soon returned with a covered up acolyte and a tome under her arm.

: It's time for you to leave and work the field, and this is the perfect chance. Make sure the orb is safe and practice what you have learned here.

: And you Amberly, you should go with them as well. I'm making you an acolyte of the House of Scholars right now, as an emergency procedure. Try to prevent them from killing each other at least until the orb is safe, and tell the royal guard to take you two to the expeditions to retrieve the treasures. Consider this as your initiation.

The abbess gave the tome and a small blessing to Amberly.

Amberly gets Sacred Fire!

: If you don't have any more questions, you should get out before you disturb my students too much.

Finally, the orb and the maps went to Ashlyn, and the abbess took a seat in one of the chairs around the table.

[Haspen]

"Pleasure." Ethan did a mocking bow.

"We're leaving, people." He turned to Gawen and her bodyguard. "To be sure there's no misunderstanding: You're joining my crew or just tagging along?"

[Sirus]

: "I will do my best, Abbess."

I just hope it will be enough.
