"As a noble of the land, I should be the one take the orb for safekeeping until such time as it can be returned to the royal family." She tried, and mostly succeeded, to hide her excitement. Surely, she was afraid of what could be the apocalypse coming, but a heroic quest such as this was the sort of thing she had dreamed of ever since she was a child.

"And we're employees of the Alvadan rulers. Plus you're brand new to the group. I don't see why we should give it up to you."

Lysander crossed his arms across his chest, and stared at the armored woman. She'd literally just joined up with them and it wasn't even clear if she was staying! Who did she think she was trying to butt in and take the glory and treasure from them.

"I am the closest thing to a member of the royal family here, unless one of you is an heir I was not made aware of. It is my duty as a Lady to defend the people and the land - a duty I take very seriously. Escorting this artifact to its proper place is now at the forefront of the obligations under that overarching duty. Furthermore, I am not seizing the orb from you, unless you mean to run off with it; there is nothing preventing us from working together going forward to return it and retrieve the other artifacts." Her tone was calm, but firm.

"If you're joining our group then your political standing outside of our group means nothing. You could be a prince or a pauper, but unless we're given orders to treat you differently then you're on the same standing as us. And, we don't even know who you are, other than that you're awfully eager to get your hands on this orb. If anything, that's more reason not to give it to you."

"I have a signet ring, a House Cawallader seal, and my own personal seal if you need proof of identity beyond what this suit of armor provides." She gestured toward the item in question, decorated with the colors and sigils of her house. "And I never claimed to be joining your group. Cooperation is something I will do, and I will defer to your leader in questions of battle tactics, but I am not beholden to you."

"If you aren't part of our group, then we have even less reason to give you the orb that we fought and could have died for. We'll do our job and deliver it to the person it belongs to. That's not you."

Assuming the captain agrees to hand it over of course...

"I couldn't care less about who you are unless you're literally the royalty we're supposed to give the Orb to." Ashlyn rolled her eyes as Gawen pointed to what she could only guess was something that proved her nobility."Then you're not getting the Orb no matter what. We're under no obligation to follow you and we're not going to give you any sort of leverage over us."

"I neither need nor care about leverage over you. And none of you have offered any proof that you are, in fact, in the employ of the royal family. It would be gravely irresponsible of me to allow something of this importance to remain in the hands of someone that I did not know could be trusted. I do not mean to insult you or any of yours, but this a matter of unmatched importance."

"Look. I understand you're used to getting your way, miss noble of little importance, but you've offered no proof other than your idealist prattling about your duty that you won't run off with the Orb. So it would be awfully irresponsible of us to give it over to someone who we don't know can be trusted."

"And if you want proof you should be asking Ethan for it, he's our boss."

"And if you still call him a fraud afterwards, I'll have to ask you to step outside so we can settle this."

Assuming Ethan didn't do so himself, anyway.

"I quite literally offered you proof of who and what I am, and have fought beside you in battle - I know of no better ways to garner your trust. Even if I were to run off with this orb, I doubt you would find it difficult to locate me, and you have the ability to seek recompense against me and my family were I to do so." Her eyes narrowed slightly.
"And I do not take kindly to insults or threats, so I will ask this once for you to please refrain from them."

"Look, miss." Marlow interjects. "You keep saying you should hold it. Nobility, sure. You say you have proof, sure. My question - why do you care who's holding onto it? We're going the same place, we're giving it to the same person. Does it matter who gives it? If it's a matter of glory, your name's probably gonna be the one written down if you're nobility anyway." He glances to Ethan. "Look, why not give her some documentation or something so we can be done with this "who holds the thing" game and be on our way? Just my suggestion there."

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

"Because, much as your friend here has accused me of untrustworthiness, I am not certain that your group can be trusted with this. I feel it would be safer in my hands. Were I satisfied that it was still going to where it belonged, I would. . . honestly still be somewhat uncomfortable due to my lack of experience with you, but I would not insist upon anything beyond being allowed to assist in escorting it."

As the tensions had begun to rise, and threats tossed out, Lysander had began to shrink. He didn't like fighting like this, and the more they argued, the more he began to regret joining in. He briefly considered hiding behind Ashlyn, but she wasn't nearly tall enough for that to be effective without him looking silly. Instead he carefully edged his way over to the other stranger they'd met in the desert, and nodded at her.

"Hello... Is... I'm Lysander by the way. What's your name? And... is she often like this?"[/i][/color]

"Angelica is my name, and yes, this is a somewhat frequent occurrence. I understand her enthusiasm to the cause, but this could have been handled a bit better." she sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose.

"Honestly if your group has proper intentions for the thing I could care less who ends up carrying it around. So long as it doesn't start heading into a fight in here, I'll just mind my own business here. Though if it does head that way..." she pauses for a moment. "Either we somehow stop them or I have the feeling we're all getting the boot from this place."
