"Yep." Ethan stood up and then stretched a little bit.

[Solymr]

A beat passed while the abbess waited to be given or shown something.

: Well, what is it? I can't identify something out of thin air!

[I_Like_Pi]

Ashlyn stepped forward and pulled out the orb, showing it to the woman.

"It's this thing. Apparently it's some kinda magic."

[Solymr]

The abbess took the orb and looked at it from different angles.

: Hm. I'll have to examine it for a bit. I'll be right back.

She then went back out of the door the entered from.

[Haspen]

The captain grimaced.

"Should I chalk it up as theft of my spoils or not yet?"

[Solymr]

Suddenly the door slammed open and the abbess rushed through straight at Ethan and Ashlyn, looking halfway between terrified and about to rip his head off.

: You! Where did you get this thing? She lifted the orb in front of their faces.

[Swordstar]

"She seems a bit bothered... Is it special or something? There was just a weird guy on a ship we fought that had it."

[Haspen]

"Give it back first, lest you shatter it with your frantic shaking."

[Solymr]

The abbess jerked her head towards Lysander.

: What weird guy, what ship?

Then she turned back to Ethan.

: Don't give me that sass, boy, this is no time for f**king games! Ugh, I'll just show you.

The abbess unrolled the scroll she had on the other hand on the table. It showed a continent that looked suspiciously like the current one, but with no seas in the middle.

: Amberly, this will serve as your first lesson. Do you know what this is?

[Sirus]

The nun was startled out of her silence, unsure what to do. The Temple of Di's rules forbade her from speaking...but this was a direct question.

: "It...it appears to be a map of the world from before the Reckoning?"

[Solymr]

: Exactly. I don't think I need to show you all a map of the world currently. And this- The abbess placed the orb on top of the map. Is the Royal Orb of Alvada. You probably never heard of it since it dates from before the Reckoning.

The abbess took a deep breath before continuing.

: You see, the Royal Orb is not just a simple treasure, it's been said that despite always being lost to some mishap, fate has returned the Orb to the Alvadan royalty whenever a disaster is about to occur. The orb's appearance foreshadows great danger, but also offers the solution.

The abbess placed her hand on the orb in a specific way, and then lifted it above the map. Light rays started coming out of the orb, illuminating specific places on the map.

: The Royal Orb shows the location of the Great Treasures of Alvada, treasures that when put together by the royalty can stop the disaster from happening. Now, can any of you guess when was the last time the Orb was seen?

[Swordstar]

"So does that mean we need to give this to royalty or something? And... Did it show up at this Reckoning?"

[Solymr]

: Yes, and yes. It is of utmost importance that you take this orb and the knowledge of how to use it. Watch closely.

The abbess repeated the process to light up the orb, and pulled a scroll that showed a map of the current world.

: The point of reference for the map was based on the old Alvada capital, but that's been long underwater so I'll show you how to do it in a current map.

The abbess repeated her lesson again, marking the point of reference with one of the beams of light, so that the other lit up places accurately displayed the treasures' location.

: Don't forget what I showed you today. The last time the orb appeared and the treasures failed to be reunited, half the world sunk under the sea, mountains became islands, and the deaths vastly outnumbered the survivors. Now, who'll be taking the orb?

[I_Like_Pi]

"I suppose I'll take it back then. Didn't have a problem keeping track of it before and I doubt I will now."

[Swordstar]

"Do you need to be able to use magic to use the orb or can anyone use it? I know the hand placement is important, but I can't tell if you're channeling magic into it or not. Not that it really matters for carrying it around. Ashlyn did a good job with it, so I support her having it again."
