Ethan and company walked up the path to the temple door, where an acolyte opened the door before any of them could knock. Without stepping out, the acolyte looked around the group and asked.

Which one of you is Amberly?

[Sirus]

Amberly raised a hand, keeping her head lowered.

[Gaterhyme]

"Aw, just suck it up and admit you won this round, then. Unless you'd rather still be losing? Well, if you insist..."

She shot a grin at Claude, half-teasing, half-taunting, then slung the cloth over her shoulder and started walking.

"Come on, let's catch up with the rest of the crew before they start thinking the sandstorm ate us, too."

[Caellath]

"If we count bad victories, we'd have to count yours back at the ambush, when I couldn't do anything. See the problem here? In any case, I'd still be losing because of the contest back at the ship."

"I'll help you need the next time you go treasure-hunting. That's less time you'll spend digging and less time I'll spend getting ahead of you."

[Gaterhyme]

"If you're going to start competing on who's being more fair and honorable, then I'll just keep stabbing the people you're fighting in the back."

"Don't make me think you haggle more cutthroat than you fight."

[Caellath]

"I guess I'm better at haggling goods than victories. I guess it's because a bad victory just doesn't feel the same, you know?"

[Gaterhyme]

"Still awfully persistent in haggling to get rid of it."

"Whatever floats your boat, then. We'll see who wins next time."

They'd caught up to the others at this point, so she left it at that.

[Solymr]

The acolyte signed to Amberly that she could come in, and then turned to the rest.

And you? Do you have any business with the House of Scholars?

[Haspen]

"Yeah, we tried to have an item appraised in Di but the local scholar had no clue what it is and directed us here as supposedly the greatest scholars reside here. So, can you guys help?"

[Solymr]

The acolyte looked in for a moment and then fully opened the door.

Come in.

Ethan and company were allowed inside the abbey, and the acolyte led them through various corridors of smooth stone, passing rooms full of meditating, training and studying scholars until they reached a big room with only a table and some chairs around it.

Wait here, I'll call in the abbess.

The acolyte disappeared behind a locked door.

[Haspen]

Ethan pulled away the nearest chair and sat down, stretching his legs and placing his hands behind his neck.

[Sirus]

Amberly sat in a meditative pose. Her earlier exuberance was completely absent now.

[Solymr]

The door opened and a venerable old woman entered. She immediately walked up to Ethan and lightly smacked him in the forehead with a rolled up scroll.

: Get up, boy. That chair is reserved for senior acolytes.

Then she walked up to the nun in training.

: You must be Amberly, right? I see you're dressed in the proper attire already. Welcome to the House of Scholars.

[Sirus]

Amberly bowed in her seat, then pulled a rolled-up scroll from her robes and presented it to the older woman. Amberly knew that it was a scroll of introduction, informing the House of Amberly's purpose there.

[Solymr]

The abbess took the scroll and quickly read it.

: Hmm... I see. Well, Amberly, I'll introduce you in a moment to some other acolytes working on that. They'll be able to help you if I'm busy.

She then turned to the rest.

: What about the rest of you? I was told you had an item even that old man Aristablos couldn't identify.
