The gate is now cleared of any enemies, and then the guards come running to see what's happening.

*huff* What- *puff* What's going on in here?

[Sirus]

Amberly staggers to her feet, looking somewhat annoyed but feeling furious.

: "Your response time to a battle at your own city's gates was disgraceful. Who is in charge here?"

[Haspen]

"We've been accosted by bounty hunters seeking to kill me. Let me tell you details..." Ethan took the guard's officer to the side.

[Caellath]

Claude walked over to Lavinia's spot and offered a hand to help her up.

"That's enough resting. The battle's over." he said with a wink.

"And I lost. Again."

[Solymr]

Ethan and the officer talked a bit aside from the rest. A bit of nodding and conversationing later Ethan returns to the party a little lighter on money and the guards leave them alone.

Party loses 25 gold.

[Gaterhyme]

"I'll need more than a hand," Lavinia muttered, but took it, with her other hand still on her lance as support. Lysander would get around to it when he got around to it. For now, she tried to ignore the bleeding, which seemed to at least be slowing.

"What was the count... one to none?... Ha. Hardly worth calling that a competition... We'll count the next one."

[Caellath]

"As much as I'd like to take you up on that offer, a defeat is a defeat. I'm not gonna pull out every time it gets rough."

[Sirus]

The nun huffed in irritation as the useless guards left without even bothering to pretend to investigate.

: "Ooooo...if we weren't in a hurry I would tell the Matron Mother about this at once. She'd bring the wrath of Aaos himself down upon the city council."

[Sutoratosu Akira]

Alain suppressed the fire dancing at his fingers as the last horsemen fell; figures, just as he was on a roll. Damn lancers and archers had never known what roasted them. He'd come this far after all, had survived so many jobs already, and he didn't intend to stop now. Or ever, really. Not until they had enough, not until he could finally go back, burn that damn shack and it's fields to the ground and bring them all somewhere better...

And burn it down he would. This fire stuff was rather interesting, didn't have quite the moxie that thunder did, but twas easier to work with, and just as effective. Hell, even with the arrow one of those arses had lodged in him, he'd still been able to hit each of them dead on...

He flipped the Tome open, studying it's contents once more.
"Hmph... bloody bastards thinking they could fletch me. Guess fire isn't half bad. Might as well expand my horizons, work with a different element for a bit..."

[Gaterhyme]

"It's not for you. One just doesn't cut it for me." She had to keep going. Be better than she already was. She was already going over in her head what had worked against these horsemen and what hadn't - not that theory had ever helped her more than practice.

"Count it if you want, but we'll really see who's winning next time."

[Swordstar]

Lysander stared around at the wounded members of the crew and then down at his hands. Staff in one, dagger in the other. He'd been too cowardly to even try and help the rest of them beyond healing. His grip on the dagger hilt tightened and he muttered to himself,

"No more. No more being a weakling and hiding behind everyone else. I won't let myself be defenseless anymore."

Walking over to Amberly he gently tapped her with his staff.

"Here, I'm sorry you got involved in all of this. Hopefully this should help you feel better though."

[Sirus]

: "Thank you again, Lysander. I think I'm mostly just upset at what the city of Di calls "guardsmen", but the healing is most appreciated." The nun looked Lysander over, frowning slightly behind her veil. "You seem a bit upset about something yourself. Is there anything I can do to help?"

[Swordstar]

"Not... not really. I just realized that I can't keep letting this crew save me over and over. I owe them all so much. I wanted to start fighting back but I was just scared. But I can't let myself be frozen like that anymore. I need to try and fight."

He showed her the dagger briefly before stowing it back in his belt.

"So I'm going to do my best to pay back all that I owe moving forward."

[Sirus]

: "I see. It's unfortunate that a healer such as yourself is required to fight, but I suppose that's inevitable on a privateer crew. The fact that you're willing to do so is quite admirable."

[Caellath]

"Fine, Lavinia. Next time then." he said, helping her up.

"Lysander, Lavinia is still really bad over here."
