[SOLDIER First]

The man waits for a response, but it doesn't come. He sighs irritably.

"Whatever, I don't care. But if Agilulf wants you in, that's good enough for me. Damn the stupid authorities."

[IamanElfCollaborator]

Elaine shies away from the clearly irritated Geraint.
"....my apologies."

[SOLDIER First]

"For what? Being worried?"

[IamanElfCollaborator]

"I have....struck a nerve. This is why....I should go."

[SOLDIER First]

"...No, you haven't. I'm.." Geraint looks away and scratches the back of his head. "...not a very friendly person. You didn't do anything, really."

[IamanElfCollaborator]

"....I did not?"
Elaine's tone changes for the first time since they've started talking. Ever so slightly, but she sounds relieved.

[SOLDIER First]

Geraint looks back at Elaine and shakes his head. "No. And I.. it's good.. that you haven't said anything about me."

He hesitates, and his voice switches from one of gruff reassurance to uncertainty.

"...my race."

[IamanElfCollaborator]

"....I would not say anything about your race. That would be....."
Elaine seems about to say something clearly negative about it, but hesitates for a moment.
".....inappropriate."

[SOLDIER First]

"Then you'll fit right in here. Glad to see Agilulf and Fr     eyja weren't the only ones raised well."

"I mean, it's normal behavior to not be a piece of shit in the wastes. Too many places to die unseen."
Agilulf shrugs.

[IamanElfCollaborator]

Elaine seems more enthused by the offer of being welcomed that Geraint gives than the offer of helping the innocent that Freyja and Agiluf have tried. She exhales.
"I....suppose then, that accompanying your group for a while....won't be as unwise as I thought."

[SOLDIER First]

"That's the spirit. Besides, if anyone tries to come and take you in for something you never did..."

Geraint raises his fist and looks at it in the light.

"Well, I never liked being in this city anyway."

"There will.....be no need for that."

[SOLDIER First]

He shrugs.

"I won't be the one to swing first."

".....I hope....that you won't need to do that on my account."
