Quickly shoot the rope (ok, it's not the exact trope, but it's close enough to the idea) keeping Jacob bound, allowing him to join the fight without losing the time to untie him (where we'd just get shot). As the bindings are chains, instead, quickly interpose ourself between the goons and Jacob.
2. Immediately thereafter As we do so, begin taking down the goons as quickly as possible. They will not be allowed to take this ship. Make use of the fact that we're outnumbered and protecting the main protagonist, while demonstrating that we're relatively good.

EDIT: Additional note: Fansworth can probably take a few shots here - either nonlethally, or nonlethal long enough to kill all the goons and for some of our own men to show up. This will appease realism, increase drama, and help establish with the Plot that Fansworth is not only willing to endanger himself for Good, but that he’s also someone of legitimate moral fiber, and is therefore trustworthy and just generally good all along.

The parrot is flying through Hammerspace, having just delivered Celling’s orders to Azure City, when it suddenly knows that horrible things are happening on board a ship near the Falklands. It attempts to intervene…

The parrot appears in a trash bin. Coughing and gagging, it flies out.

It appears to be on the deck, pressed against a wall of the superstructure facing the bow of the ship. The parrot comes to rest on the deck. Far above, it can make out the windows of the bridge. There is an opened door in the wall, and the whole length of the ship stretches out in front.
