“There are just legends of such things happening that have made their way here,” Celling says. “I guess those are untrue.”
“No, no,” says the Secondborn. “It is something that we do, but it is not a decision to be made hastily. We welcome only our most ardent worshippers into the ranks of the immortals. In any case even I do not have the power to begin such a thing alone. I will have to confer with my brothers and sisters in Atlantis.”
“If you’re as powerful as you say you are, then why do you need our help to get home?” Celling asks.
“In truth I have no need to ask your permission. I could easily get aboard a ship, kill its crew, and steal it. But that would quickly end the chance future relations, I believe.”
“And you think obliterating the Protinam won’t!?”
“The Protinam were an overt threat to me with their powers and refused to bow to the Cisharni. And from what David has told me” - he smirked at this - “He never was really, completely on your side, anyhow.”
What do you do?
A: “We agree. Give us the coordinates of Atlantis, we'll mount an expedition to return you there.”
B: “I think it may be a little harder than you think. We have evidence that you have crossed into another dimension, and that Atlantis is unreachable by normal means.”
C: “We are not helping you, Secondborn.”
D: Something else…
There was also a roll a while ago where you were told that some compromises would have to be made in order to mount the wormhole. Basically the SFN Pylos isn't quite large enough to carry the stabilizing system's two internal generators.
What do you do? (pick any 2, or G)
A: Try to conserve power by redlining the wormhole stabilizing apparatus. This drops the energy consumption but there's a ⅙ chance of catastrophic wormhole collapse due to power fluctuations.
B: Convert one of the engines to supply power to the wormhole. We won’t be able to keep up with Magellan’s ship, and the ship would be easy prey for anyone chasing it, but the wormhole will be secure.
C: Mount the wormhole to the ship’s power grid but take out the radar to give it more power. Again, the wormhole is secure, but we can’t see storms, icebergs, or enemy ships coming at us. ⅙ chance of hitting an iceberg, and chases are easier.
D: Unload some of our cargo and technology samples to make more room. England won’t be able to upgrade itself with Antarctican tech, and maintaining the wormhole on the other end may be harder. People may also question what’s taking up so much space.
E: Unload the missiles and weapons to make more space. Leaves ship totally unarmed. This has obvious risks, and like D it is possible that people looking at the loading operations figure out the wormhole’s on board
F: Mount the wormhole on the deck of the ship. There’s now enough space to put the generator in, but people will be able to see it a mile away.
G: Forget the entire thing. Keep the wormhole here.
H: Send a convoy with the ship. Neutralizes negative effect of C, D, and E, but makes our naval capacity take a bigger hit and may attract attention. Add on to any plan.
