Jacob stares in open shock. Anna gasps and steps back. Omada backs away slowly.

Celling punches David in the face.

David - or the Secondbrn wearing David’s face - looks surprised for a moment. He staggers backwards, falls against the floorboards, and wipes blood from his nose with one hand, then turns back to look at Celling.

“Get out,” Celling says.

“You’ll pay for that,” the Secondbrn hisses, pushing himself up off the ground.

Celling glances at Fansworth. Fansworth nods and speaks into a radio: “We have some kind of paranormal activity here, launch another missile.”

“You think you can challenge me?” says the Secondbrn. He whirls around and creates a force shield floating fifty feet in the air, visibly straining with effort. The translucent wall expands to to the size of a house at a gesture, then flies in the path of the missile, causing it to detonate harmlessly a mile away. “I am a GOD! No puny weapon forged by you can harm me! No mere mortal has the indolence-”

There’s a bright flash of light and a clap of thunder. When the light fades, nobody's there.


“Did he… did he just go completely insane and then vanish?” asks Fansworth.

Celling looks around. “He’s not the only one that did. The rebels are gone.”

“Where the hell did he go?” wonders Fansworth.

“Ponder that later,” says Celling. “We’re still surrounded by the Mittani’s men.”
