Regarding tropes: No, you cannot use “Villain wins” because that predecides the conclusion.
Tropes are numbered from 1 to 6, top to bottom, left to right, on that pyramid diagram. Please note where you would like each trope.
1: Passive only
2: Anything but Weapon
3: Anything but Setting
4: Setting or Active
5: Anything but Passive
6: Weapon or Active
We’ll roll charging the boats.
Roll 2d7+1 (military, Celling bonus) where:
2 = Ambush! Celling gets shot!
3 to 4 = Ambush! The rebels hit you from a concealed position
5 to 6 = Goonswarm intercepts you halfway through
7 to 9 = Fansworth questions you on the wisdom of doing such a thing and declines to send any of his men, but you still take the boats
10 to 12 = You take the boats without much difficulty
Results: 4 + 1 + 1 = 6 → Big fight with Goonswarm, coming right up!
Celling points out to Fansworth that the boats are the only way off the dock, besides the entrance, which they have blockaded.
They head across the dock to the boats berthed on the other end when suddenly men jump out at them and start shooting! The Goonswarm forces seem to be attacking with some kind of rapid-firing weapon that launches poison darts.
Celling’s forces move to take cover in the storefronts and various equipment lining the dock, but they then see three figures, matching the descriptions of Jacob Eldin and Anna Drimoxi, as well as some other girl, darting out behind them.
At this point it pays to explain
What do you do?A: Continue as it is. Take cover and engage Goonswarm seeking to minimize losses. This will lead to the fewest casualties, but the rebels will leave and the fight will last longer, meaning that more unpredictable factors will come into play.
B: Disengage with Goonswarm and run after the rebels. Goonswarm may inflict losses while you retreat, but you are likely to engage the rebels with significant force.
C: Charge and seek to end this engagement quickly by firing in the open. This will end it faster, likely in time to chase the rebels. but has a greater chance of inflicting casualties.
D: Call in airstrike. Have the naval destroyers stationed down the coast fire a missile at the dock, blowing it up rebels and all. Tests the limits of plot-armor and is likely to take out ALL the Goonswarm, but causes massive collateral damage and may kill Celling and other named characters if they can’t get out fast enough
Δ: Use Eborrenial’s powers to avert this roll. It may get worse though.
E: Something else…
