On another note, do you think I'm doing a good job with my first SG? I designed it to be a new style - one with a lot of behind the hood complex stuff but a very intuitive interface that is easy to understand. Take this thing for example - I have all this false positive/false negative stuff set up but the values are quite intuitive (nobody goes to mountains, easy to spot people on grasslands, etc) so there's a lot to contribute. It's hopefully complex enough to be rewarding to analyze but simple enough to be rewarding to play.

But what do you think? Any ways I could improve? Is the plot too dry?

Let's take a gander at grasslands, even if we don't catch them something interesting is likley to happen.

I... don't have plans for extraneous complications. It's all there in the rules.

I read the rules it's how I came to that conclusion that your disputing.

"zones like Grasslands are loose cannons - you likely will catch the rebels, but might detect something else if they aren't there."

You might detect something else that isn't the rebels and interpret it as the rebels as a false positive. We're not rustling up lions or anything.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, but this is just a simple false positive/false negative choice.

We will, but I just won't simulate it.

Seriously, no more votes? Next vote breaks tie, just saying.

If you had voted mountain I would have been so mad...

Also, lemme note that the only "dynamic" (non-rules-based) portion of this is the actions the rebels undertake. If you catch them while they're still wounded, for example, the resulting fight is easier. Other than that it's all in the numbers.

I'm not doing flavor text this section, lest I give away too much information.

GRASSLANDS scanned
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY DETECTED in GRASSLANDS
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY DETECTED adjacent to GRASSLANDS
Day 1 has elapsed

Remember, you can fine-grain scan any area at any time, at the expense of TWO (changed from one) days of activity and rebels get to move if you're wrong.

If we don't do the "fine-grain" stuff we can still find them on the run? with regular rolls?

Yeah! But they'll be up to full manpower and psychologically refreshed from a nice jaunt in the wilderness. All the traditional hero-type stuff - confronting flaws, banding together, healing wounds, doing research - it's all on my list of things they'll do.

Catch them now and you have a much easier time.
