They are Billions
« on: August 18, 2017, 05:34:02 am »

Found this glorious thing randomly on youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QX1rPWPN4DI

So finally an RTS not about simply building bases dumbed down to tower defense but about actually building civilization after or during Zombie Apocalypse..

Probably should add a bit more info...like links to their website....I got you covered:

Description:
They Are Billions is a strategy game in a distant future about building and managing human colonies after a zombie apocalypse destroyed almost all of human kind. Now there are only a few thousand humans left alive that must struggle to survive under the threat of the infection. The scope is pretty amazing, assuming it doesn't run like shit. Not wild about the cell shaded look but I guess if that's what makes the actor count work....

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Sounds interesting,  The most viable strategy might be to take over someplace like Iceland though, clear a relatively small islands of zombies, and then set up your base of production there assuming that these aren't like Plague Inc. zombies that can float across the ocean.

IDK, it seems more like tower defense rather than less. Unlike other games advertised as RTS (eg Starcraft, all the TA-derived games, etc) it's heavily based on defensive stuff. Not that that's necessarily bad, but I'm just confused about why it's compared to traditional RTS games rather than games like Dwarf Fortress (which this appears to share some characteristics with).

Perhaps they might not know of Dwarf Fortress as much.

Or they realize it would be a loaded comparison.

Or RTS is a generic term used to define gameplay controls more than mechanics.

I can only think of this.

I used to have that game for Sega Saturn. Freaking loved it. It had corny cinematics on par with Command and Conquer in terms of ham quality.
