Well, I want to move the spitters to front 3, to increase our chances of making progress there before it occurs to them that they can improve fortifications. As things stand progress is all but guaranteed, but if they spend an action to redirect reinforcements that way, Spitters might make the difference.
I don't think we need them on front 1, because even if that becomes a very serious problem, we have the fortifications at Menotos to give us sufficient time to deal with it.
Incidentally, I would like to revisit the matter of our princess whilst we have the chance. I'm not 100% sold on Novico, and the potential rewards are too great to go with anything less than the best.
Different princess design, you say?
Hum...
The Shaper of ManyFirst daughter to the first Queen, the Shaper of Many is crafted with glorious purpose. While the Queen has brought forth the brood that shall inherit this world, it is the Shaper of Many who will sculpt them into worthy vessels of Her will. Her purpose is to pull apart the weak to build up the strong, to burn the flaws of the old in order to kindle a newer perfection, and to let the obsolete fall away to bring forth the dawn of a glorious new age.
Gross physical anatomy: The Shaper of Many is, in many ways, more refined than the queen. Her abdomen, though large compared to every other caste among the hive, is far less distended than that of her mother, and does not completely confine her to one location- though its size and weight still mean that she does require assistance to move any significant distance. Her limbs have been moved upwards, relative to her mother, giving her one less set of 'legs' and an additional set of forelimbs. Her forelimbs and head are where she diverges most readily from her mother, and where her purpose is made evident. Her forelimbs are refined, sporting razor sharp talons and perfect dexterity, working as a whole with the precision that would make a master surgeon weep. Her head is large and elongated, extended to house not only the multiple powerful eyes which provide excellent visible-light vision and magnification as well as the best IR vision available (to observe her subject), but also to contain her extended brain (to understand her subject).
Nutrition: The Shaper of Many is an obligate carnivore, and her hunger is rapacious. She is also a cannibal, dissecting and devouring the weak in order to learn their flaws.
Environmental Tolerance: The Shaper of Many, due to her slightly less vulnerable abdomen and less reproductive nature, can tolerate a wider variety of conditions. However, for her work she requires the atmospheric conditions to be as rigidly stabilized as possible, and thus also prefers underground dwellings.
Defences: The Shaper of Many is much less defenseless than the current Queen. Though nearly immobile, her vision is incredibly keen and she is fully capable of bending her surgical limbs to tear apart her foes. Of course, her honor guard is still her main defense, and it's comprised both of standard warriors, and whatever bizarre 'one-off' creatures she's presently experimenting with.
Personality: Like Mother, like daughter, the Shaper of Many is as cold as they come. Her ceaseless drive is a hunger to understand the world, to unlock the secrets written in her own flesh, and gain the knowledge to mold the biology of her people as easily as clay on a wheel. To her, the biology of the hive is a labyrinth, a puzzle. And while the paths of the flesh are plainly visible, its ways deceptively apparent, its destinations are unknown. Its secrets are still secret. It is the lure of the labyrinth that drives her constantly unlock those secrets. The Queen has manipulated and toyed with biology before her, but The Shaper of Many, as a consummate explorer of the flesh, will devote her life and energy to going further to tread the unknown corridors in order to find ultimately, the final solution.
