I'm leaning towards Dorytos, but Kydessos does have a fort ii and iii protecting it. It should be able to hold out until we get the schools up everywhere, assuming we actually follow through with that, and we might force them to spend a die to redistribute forces there.

Sounds like a plan, through I would prefer to make a generalized school for our people to make as many slaves into spearmen as possible since we need to make a actual professional army as quickly as possible and trained conscripts are a good start.
My thinking is that an officer school will help more globally. Come to think of it, it might stay as an officer school, and so would be best placed in Dorytos. A local school would help more if we drop it in Kydessos (or elsewhere on the mainland).

Alright, think I have enough creative juices flowing, so I'll try to do a proper write-up:

Officer Training School
This facility will serve to provide dedicated training to our officers, commanders and elite units through instruction from old and injured veterans. Between standardized training and weeding out those who prove to be utterly inept at command, this should ensure a level of quality in our command staff. In addition to that, our spellcasters will be sent through the School as well, to prepare them for battlefield conditions and spellcasting under stress. Those found utterly incapable at dealing with being charged will be assigned solely to enchant weapons or other, non-frontline, duties that may be available in the future.

Efforts on construction will initially be focused in Dorytos, but optimally we would like to get such facilities to become widespread, and will commission additional academies immediately if it proves feasible.

So? What do you all think? (Will take cool, non-generic, name suggestions. Oh, poke holes into any glaring issues with that write-up.)

I'm not sure I like the mage part. That might be increasing effectiveness at the cost of even more training time.

Well I was assuming they were already being given a very brief crash course in how battlefields work, this just formalizes it. And potentially finds those who would panic when confronted with a giant insectoid horror charging right at them... Huge liability a paniced mage could be, after all.

But I do see your point.

EDIT TO AVOID DOUBLEPOST: An officer academy would imply quality over quantity wouldn't it? A general training facility for the rank and file is probably what we want to raise our training income...

I concur that increasing our training capacity will help down the line. Anything that improves our ability to generate vital resources is very critical. And Training may just be how we beat these insects back.

As for 'holding a line' obviously we can't zerg rush them down, and they, being the underdogs territory wise, probably have the strength for one good push into us, so that has to capture them another breeding ground. Kydessos is the obvious target, so it won't be there. They'd go for Nippi. Its less defended, a shorter path, and also a valuable second breeding ground. In addition, it cuts our timber holdings down, thus limiting our ability to build ships and bows. We must be watchful for which path they take. We'll have advance warning at least.

Terenos, I think all fronts get pushed simultaneously? I mean, I suppose they can relegate more of their troops towards a particular front.

Either way, I think I'll try to get a half decent write-up for a general training camp thingy written. SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THE NAME PLEASE THOUGH!

Military Training Camp
This facility will provide training for the bulk of our army. While said training would only be basic, and of little help towards elite and specialist units, it is anticipated that it will at the very least ensure a mild level of quality control over our basic soldiers, but more importantly free up resources that would have been spent training them to allow training more specialized units. Or, if nothing else, ensure that aren't as reliant on slaves to hold our lines.

Efforts on construction will initially be focused in Dorytos, but optimally we would like to get such facilities to become widespread, and we will commission additional camps immediately if it proves feasible.

Again, poke any holes you see, or use it for the skeleton of your own, better fleshed out, proposal. Oh and a non-super-generic name please.

Sounds okay to me. As for the name, how about Conscript Enlightenment Facility?

Looks like we have a consensus on some sort of training facility.  Can I get a vote on which of the designs you guys prefer?  Then I'll go ahead and do a phase update.

Welp, we should put it to the votebox really quick, so I'll conjure one. With subvotes for actual non-super-generic names. (Let's not make a habit of this unless the author of that write-up was having trouble coming up with a name, though.)

That is what I meant, that they'd most likely put the bulk into pushing one direction.

Design: Military Training Camp  [Effectiveness: 4] [Cost: 3] [Bugs: 1]

With the aid of experienced soldiers, you formulate a series of basic drill techniques to be taught across the League, with the intent that the many militia soldiers will be more effectively trained in use of weapons and armour before being sent off to kill and/or die.  The basic initiative proves fairly successful, with small training camps established throughout the League and led by local veterans responsible for training their charges.  It is a step up from family-based training, at least for basic techniques, and we can expect a gentle but measurable improvement across the board in trained troops.

There is, however, a dark side.  By placing the responsibility for training in the hands of local veterans, they gain much power and prestige.  This is not a problem, but they also have the ability to withold favour, tuition and guidance from their less favoured charges, and those soldiers who get on their instructors' bad sides are much more likely to go into battle not knowing how best to use their equipment.  In effect, veteran instructors have the ability to decide who will live and who will die.  This may have long-standing consequences, but they are outshone by the benefits of additional training.  For now.

These minor camps have been set up throughout the League, but the elder council has expressed an interest in setting up a larger, formalised camp in Dorytos or elsewhere.  It is a Strategic Action to set up such a camp and will give a flat bonus to production of training, with an associated amount of production depending upon the effectiveness of the action.

It is now the Revision Phase.  You have 2 dice remaining.

Well. I've certainly seen worse, but that bug roll.. So, revise it to avoid issues later down the line (I'm assuming that power will eventually get to our trainers heads from that 'For now', if we don't do anything about it....), or save a dice, for now?

We should probably  revise it, we need as few long teen issues as possible right now.
