Mission 2-Anya Report
This mission is considered a success by Akras' board of directors. The team was able to scout the area surrounding the gate, and identify both plant and animal life, returning with live samples of each. While the plant was not able to survive for long, the time it was in the lab has proven valuable to Akras. The wealth of biological differences has led Akras to conclude that a permanent research and biological containment facility will need to be constructed on New Australia, to serve both for sample-gathering locally and for safe storage of biological samples far from our civilian operations on Mars.
Each astronaut was awarded 3000 credits, plus stock based on their performance reviews.
Danh Loi, Demolitions and Security - 50 shares
Mr. Loi remains a consistent personality problem. On this mission, he made decisions based on his desire to be distant from team mates, even threatening to assault one on his return to Akras Mars. He was reluctant to undertake personal danger for the good of the company. However, Mr. Loi's sharpshooting talent proved critical at multiple stages, saving one of his team members from danger with a precision shot to a spiderbeetle on Christian's helmet, and devastating the hive's response as the team sought to penetrate back to the gate room.
Vigil Henderson, Biologist - 100 shares
Mr. Henderson exceeded the review board's expectations on this mission, returning with valuable deep scans of the alien hive structure and a live sample of an alien tricot. While the sample died shortly after transplant, the team was able to acquire valuable biological and genetic data, and his heroic actions in recovering the sample should not go unrewarded simply because it died after return. Vigil's field analysis of the spiderbeetles should have informed the squad's tactics more, however Vigil bears no responsibility for the hostile work environment he was placed into.
Ricardo de Castillo, Martial Arts - 100 shares
Mr. de Castillo was invaluable in finally terminating the disputes that had created a hostile work environment in the New Australia expedition. His combat prowess went largely undemonstrated due to his focus on returning a live, unharmed sample of a spiderbeetle to a containment unit that he comissioned upon his return. At this time the lab is observing it, however it has so far refused to eat anything we possess, due most likely to Akras Mars' serving vat-grown meat and lacking live subjects for it to hunt. Mr. de Castillo has continued to bring his bow, however the review board notes that it did not become an impediment on the mission.
John Christian, Security and Sensors - 50 shares
Mr. Christian's enthusiasm for space exploration was on clear display as on a number of occasions he urged the party forward and out of the gateroom. He was unsuccessful in convincing them, with only Mr. Loi's intervention to secure additional supplies finally moving things forward. The review board is greatly concerned with Mr. Christian's desire to scout alone and his frequently hostile interactions with other members of the team. He was able to return with important scans of the alien hive. The review board recommends Mr. Christian attend Non-Violent Conflict Intervention (NVCI) training before his next mission.
Wolfram von Steinheil, Archaeologist - 1 share
Dr. von Steinheil performed his duties adequately for the position he was placed in, remaining within the gateroom pending the discovery of alien ruins. No ruins were found on this mission beyond the gateroom, however Dr. von Steinheil proved to be professional and courteous, avoiding the arguments that plagued the rest of the team.
Kaito Yoritomo, Gauss Specialist - 80 shares
Mr. Yoritomo performed excellently in this mission despite a hostile work environment. He directed tactical movement early in the mission, engaged in critical sharpshooting when a team member was in danger, and returned the alien sample immediately through the gate, allowing Akras to examine it whether or not the team was able to return after further exploration. He recommended proceeding without additional supplies that proved to be unnecessary, showing frugality with company resources. He attempted to prevent serious tactical errors and was extremely effective in combat when the hive swarmed and attacked. Akras recommends that Mr. Yoritomo attend Non-Violent Conflict Intervention (NVCI) training before his next mission.
