Ah, alright. We'll want those to kill the gods. The magic is going to be useful as well. Anyhow, we'll need a weapon for the medic and officer, something like a blowback semi-automatic pistol with a stock attached, acting as a carbine. Maybe .357 or .45?

Posting so Doubloon doesn't need to doublepost.
(I couldn't think of anything pertinent to do this with. Sorry.)

Glass is, as usual, correct.
Yep, as ever, I bestow upon Glass the expected +1
I'm gonna say we go with whatever Glass's idea is.

Er, alright. Thanks, I suppose. Anyway, I'd really like if I could get some input on these ideas/proposals. We do need an HMG, for vehicle mounting and such, but I'm not sure to make it universal with the rifles, or use a stronger cartridge. Also, in terms of LMG for the dwarfsquads, I'm leaning toward magazines, simply for convenience, though I'd like some input on whether to use a box or pan design, or to withhold the magazine altogether and go for ammunition belts. Input?

Assuming you don't want the HMG to be a flatly more destructive weapon, it may as well just be a faster, more capable of sustained fire, stationary gun with the standard cartridge, although the terminology for a thing like that is more Medium Machine Gun or MMG at this point. Using a more powerful cartridge would make the HMG a handy thing for destroying things between actual artillery shells and the normal light machine guns.

For a light machine gun, using a big magazine, heavy automatic rifle sort of layout kinda makes the system a little more idiot-proof, but less capable of sustained fire, which is probably fine. Pan magazines are generally not the most user friendly of things, but definitely simplify manufacturing. Perhaps a DP-28 clone would work well for you, the Soviets sure liked them.

Okay, I suppose we'll go with the pan magazine. For the HMG, I'm still not entirely sure, though time will tell. Anyhow, I took a look at the old thread... and I've just now found out that our entire access to the surface is through a pretty rickety side entrance, since the dead demigod took out the main one. I'm assuming we know lead protects from radiation, and we might want to invest in a lead-lined security door.

{That entrance is fortified and equipped with decontamination showers. The guards who get to stand watch outside could probably do with better hazard gear than cloth facemasks and generic plate armor, though.}

So, a few technical questions for a newly arrived worker!

Have we set our soldiers up with some high quality field rations?
Do we have access to the dam up stream and is there room to fish there?

I intend to get a few artisans making some quality food kit for our soldiers!
This seems like a completely productive endeavor and not a waste of everyone's time at all.

{You could very much do with some canning equipment or similar to produce long-term stable rations that aren't very dry biscuits and very salty meat. You have access to as much of the river as you need.}

The above-ground water might be radioactive, but I'm pretty sure the water in the dam (Underground, I think) should be drinkable.

{Yep. Not that there's a lot of water aboveground to irradiate.}

Indeed. If I have time, I'll try to write an interim update tomorrow, but I can't promise anything.
