Round 5: Shopping Spree
Time: Morning
KJ is down on one knee, wheezing, recovering all the breath that his damaged throat can suck down into his circulatory system. Once he's stable enough to focus on something else besides breathing, he stares down the paralyzed Greatness crawling towards him bitterly. KJ readies to finish off the truck drive once and for all, standing up and lifting his musket up over his head. [7+1-2 VS. 1-4] Once Greatness is directly below him, KJ drives the bayonet down as if he were implanting a stake into the ground. The blade goes straight through Greatness's skull, and is pulled out cleanly, coated in blood and grey matter. Greatness remains prone, the hole in his head leaking, his hands rigid like a statue, preparing for an attack that will never come.

+SledgehammerJust as quickly as KJ can bask in his victory, his throat begins to constrict once more. [Breathing:9] There is more gasping, but this time the photographer manages to get enough wind to allow him to stand upright for now, prolonging his life a little longer until the next inevitable spasm.
NAV attempts to explain himself to the large peasant woman who has caught him rummaging around in her vegetable garden, "I'm not thieving your garden, just inspecting it for vegetarian purity. Yep, no trace of meat here." [Bluffing: 10-1(Cynical Target)] The peasant woman looks him over, "Well, I suppose you are dressed strangely enough to be a vegetable inspector, even if I've heard of nothing of the sort. I never suspected that it would be contaminated with meat. Have a good morning." She closes her front door firmly.
After passing with his bullshit, NAV is confident enough to fight someone in the vicinity. Looking around the square, he settles on Person. She's the only competitor in his direct vision, and she's caring after a wounded man as well. As the two get onto the horse, NAV aims his M1. [6+2 VS. 5] Just as they get on, NAV fires a shot into Person's right arm, about an inch above the right elbow. The force is enough to nearly knock her off the mount.
Blitz orders her vigilantes to continue attacking Greatness, only for KJ to dispatch of their common foe seconds later. With that out of the way the vigilantes, idle for once, huddle together to discuss last night's rugby game. Blitz, concerned with the health of her ally who might just pass out any moment, constructs a new poem for him:
"I wish you
the best luck
in fighting.
Face turns blue
Air you lack
No breathing.
Breath you drew
Life comes back
Stay living."[Poetry: N/A] It's a fine poem, but in the end all it results is an expression on KJ's face that expresses what he can no longer say in words; "What the hell are you doing? You're making poetry and I'm dying." The art of poetry can invigorate a soul or make someone reflect long and hard on their lives, but it does little in repairing tissue and bone structure. In search of a more practical solution to his injuries, Blitz searches the marketplace, asking around for some sort of treatment that can fix a throat. Some of the merchants direct her to the barber-surgeon's office down the road past the marketplace. One woman behind a table of glimmering crystals claims that she has a crystal that, once swallowed, would cure the damage, though she would need a good offer if she were to barter. Another merchant-tinkerer shows Blitz a long tube that, when inserted through the front of the neck, would give KJ an artificial breathing hole. He also states that his bartering demands are far lower than the crystal-woman's.
Person assures her Watchman, "Yes, let's get you fixed up. But first..." Once the excitement of battle draws to a close she somberly approaches the pile of ashes that was once her enamored lightning bull. She whispers to the remains, "You did well. I will not forget your sacrifice." She then goes back to Failbird's body, relieving it of the M249 and Electric Guitar. She hands her cavalry saber over to the Watchman, who accepts it with wide eyes. He looks over the gleaming blade, entranced by it, "Who would have thought that I would get my own handcrafted blade..." As the two of them climb onto the war horse, a shot rings out and Person nearly falls off as something strikes her arm.
The Watchman cries, "We're being attacked! Flee while I fight back!" [3 VS. 8] As Person gets her hands on the reins, her companion shoots back at NAV, missing him by a large margin. NAV retaliates unfettered by the gunfire, [6+2 VS. 7] and cuts through the top of the Watchman's arm with another bullet. The Watchman curses, "Damn, we're outmatched! Ride woman!" [Horseback Riding: 4-2] Person loses her grip and actually does fall off the horse this time. At least she's on the ground on the left side of the horse, its body shielding her from NAV's line of sight.
Fallacy stands his ground and holds his six shooter at the ready, prepared to fire on the first sliver of grey fur he sees. His eyes catch a pair of paws sneaking through the brush, and he the engineer blasts. [10+2 VS. 7] A single well placed bullet, and a grey-furred body falls over with a single
thud and nothing more. The wolf's cohorts, sensing that something is wrong, immediately start to yip and flee the scene; Fallacy watches as their bodies disappear into the distance, fearful of the two legged creature with the exploding hand.
Darkgamer heads into the marketplace looking for relevant supplies. It turns out that bread is abundant here, being peddled by numerous food stalls, and the spices necessary for gingerbread are also in good supply. While looking for a place to cook, one of the merchants, a baker's wife, says that her husband would allow Dark to use one of his ovens, provided he pays for a small rental fee. Darkgamer's Menshevik companion crosses his arms, visibly unhappy with the market. He mutters, "I don't like this, because this is beginning of uncontrolled capitalism. We should stay and ensure that these people progress to a socialism instead of the dark path towards laissez-faire. And when are you going to get rid of that damn statue? The thing gives me goosebumps just looking at it."
The town rumbles as a large passenger plane flies close to the ground, landing in a field nearby. After it comes to a stop, the cargo door opens up and CrocAndBearLover busts out, riding into the town center on her motorcycle.
