Ye will be missed.

My first post on this forum was in one of Ao's games. I nearly gave away the twist behind The Mind because I didn't know how to use invisible text or spoilers back then (I tried to use white text instead, IIRC). Ironically enough, I had initially joined this forum to share my idea for a peaceful and open solution to the main conflict of that game.

So, was there a special twist behind this game as well?

Also, methinks those that waitlisted in this game should also get reserved spots.
I support this, partially because I was one of those waitlisted people.

Ah, I remember that. Good times, that was my first game too.

No special twists in particular. You got to see the golem warehouse who maintain and clean the Mansion. They would collect all explorer corpses and toss them into a mass grave, close doors to empty rooms if conditions match. There would have been a chance to find an explorer colony, chat with NPC wizards and so on. But nothing really special.

They would come from any unbarred door in closest empty room and put the door back. Or put a new one if they can't reasonably reach the old one.

I was waiting for you guys to split up a bit more and then develope healthy fear of being alone.

Vote tally:

Setting:
B, B, A, A, B, A/B

Evolving Magic:
A+B, C, A(multiuse), ?, C, B/C

Dice-based mechanics:
B, ?, B, A, B, ?

Other ideas:
Not really, not really, etc.

Slots reserved:
F, F, H, F, F, E/F

PvP:
C, C, C, C, C, C

PvP and reserved slots are clear winners! PvP is possible within the game but is not a focused-upon element or mechanic, and players(waitlisted or not) in this game will be able to import their characters into the next game with some... mutations, possibly from the Metamorphica.

Some suggestions were mixed into other voting.

There were 3 votes for the multi throw dice system, 2 votes for nothing(the players didn't care, methinks), and 1 vote for standard roll to dodge. Multithrow will be used.

The setting and the magic system votes were most varied.

The setting votes saw 3 votes for World Trek, 2 for Infinite Dungeon, and 1 for either. Unless we get a tiebreaker, I'll roll 1d5 on Random.org(1, 2, 3 = World Trek, 4, 5 = Infinite Dungeon) to choose.

The magic system votes are bloody convoluted.

One vote for A and B, one vote for A(with multiple-use cards), one vote for nothing, two votes for C, and one vote for B or C. That's definitely not clear enough for me to call it. A recount may be in order, or I may just go with my preference, multi-use cards and slots(tinkered with a bit).

:(

Please let us use the current system. It allowed us to plan ahead and start coming up with really cool spells, and rewarded lateral thinking (to figure out low-cost but effective spells).

Alright, let me explain A, B, and C.

C is the default option. Exactly the same as before. I do like the central premise(alter the phrasing of spells, evolving them) but I think it could be a little better.

A and B are really add-ons to the system C.

B is slots. To use a spell, you need to lock it into a slot you have. You can keep any number of spells to grow from, but you can only cast the ones you've slotted in. There would be multiple types of slots. Slots for odd, bizarre, weak, etc. spells would be plentiful, and slots for spells like "unleash fire and brimstone" would be less so. To balance out the restriction of the number of spells you can keep in active use, cooldown(and possibly other costs) would be reduced. You wouldn't have to wait basically forever to cast armageddon, though it would still take some time and you would have the problem of finding a slot for it.

A is cards. Players have "cards" in their hand that can effect their spells(and possibly slots). I like Roboson's idea of making cards multiple use. Cards such as "Basic Modification: Add, remove, or modify one section of a spell." would be more plentiful and longer-used than cards such as "Curse Modification: Chosen spell causes a gradual negative effect and has a greatly enhanced duration."

The strength of these systems is that it gives something to push for. Infinity Mansion is fairly aimless. If you have a quest such as "Kill Jack Slash. Reward: Power Granting Spell Card: Play to modify one of your spells such that it gives the ability to cast the unmodified version of the spell to the target.", that's something to strive for.

A and C don't even have to be mutually exclusive. The standard mechanism for modifying spells can remain intact, and cards can be used for extra bonuses.

Okay, I vote for it(A+C)

I keep my vote to the infinite dungeon though

I vote for either A+B or A+B+C, depending on which one gets more votes (if there's to be a tiebreaker, I'll change my vote to be for A+B).

Ah, ok. An A+C system seems like the way to go, being able to gradually change your spells as well as having cards that can alter them in stronger ways (or maybe even give you additional spells to start editing from?) would be interesting.

Looks like A+C wins. Standard system for designing spells remains intact, and players can earn "cards" that allow for special manipulations and other effects.

Final call to tiebreak setting before I roll d2.

Eh, I'm good with either B or A. I guess that means one vote to each, which I originally just had B, so hey, infinite dungeon I guess.

B, B, A, A, B, A/B
now becomes
Quote
B, A/B, A, A, B, A/B

That's even worse of a tie.

If we count an A/B vote as +1 to both, nothing changes, so let's just ignore those.

Two As. Two Bs. It's even worse of a tie now.
