Interest in mod-based community game?
« on: July 22, 2017, 11:21:30 pm »

I've been wanting to make an illustrated community game for a while now and I was wondering if people would be interested in one based on some mods that I've been working on. I won't have a whole lot to do until school starts, and even then I should be able to update pretty regularly. I never really use MS Paint or anything, though, so the art might not be very good.

I can't imagine why not. I would be.

It sounds interesting. Illustrations are always fun. What sort of mods will be used?

I would be using some mods that I've been working on in my spare time and maybe some other mods. I'm nowhere near done with the mod yet, I only added in a few creatures and civs. I haven't even settled on final names for most of the creatures yet. I'm having a lot of fun with the mod, though, and I think it would work well in a story. Here are the RAWs for a few of the creatures if you want to take a look.

Any suggestions or advice would be awesome. For now, I'm just going to practice in MS Paint.

Hey, the magma dwellers. I remember them from your thread over in the modding section.

Yeah. Out of all of the creatures I've modded into the game, the magma dwellers are my favorite. They and their civ might be a big part in the story.

I suggest you call the nothuman a "spink". Motivation: it is the correct thing to call them, plus it vaguely resembles my name, subtly crediting me for suggesting it to you. Their children are "spinklings" and their venom is "spink juice". I hope you agree with the excellence of this suggestion.

Ok, "nothumans" will be called spinks. Thanks for the name!  :D

Yeah, that'll be interesting. Do you accept mods submitted by other people? I have a felid (sentient cats, NOT humanoid, but with a grasp at their head) and draconian (sentient humanoid dragons with 2 breath abilities) race.

Wait, so they wield swords with their heads?

They only wield SHORT swords. I also may have made them too minimalistic and they die out in 15 years.

Well yeah but if they get hold of some whips then imagine all the cute deathcats tearing you apart by hairlash ala Shantae.

Sure, I'll accept mods by other people! The draconians look pretty cool, and I'm probably going to use them and the felids for the story, if that's alright. If anyone has any mods to suggest, feel free to suggest them.

I'd like to offer whichever parts VolcanoQueen wants to use from my Movie Creatures Pack. I'll admit it's partially for playtesting, I haven't got much feedback on this mod.
