Seeking Artist for My First Game Jam!
« on: July 22, 2017, 02:26:58 am »

Literally, it's called My First Game Jam: https://itch.io/jam/my-first-game-jam-summer-2017

I've teamed up with a programmer. I'm doing the writing and design, and probably basic sounds (though if a sound designer wants to jump on board, they'd be welcome!). We don't need anything fancy for the graphics, any 2D style should work, and we really don't need too much, anyway. It's a simple game. The jam starts today and we're both getting to work on our parts with placeholder graphics, but we'd be super pleased if any of you lovely folks wanted to jump in and join us! Take a look at the game description and let me know if you are interested.

So if you want to recruit for a project like this, you need a place where people come together for indie development.
It really helps if you can prove you worked on a project, however minor.
A little confidence travels far!

You might want to check out:

A+ very experienced would work again.
I really doubt you'll find anyone better!
Also, even if you are too intimidated to ask for them to join you, ask them for advice!

I also hang out in a number of popular game dev Discords.

Game Dev League
I see the most people on this Discord server. I just jumped into a project myself.
GDL has what every other server has, but in spades.
Probably your best bet to find people to work a game.

Tigris is full of indie devs, many of which post updates on their projects.
They have lots of people who want to be indie devs, and a few very skilled indie devs.
If all you want to do is hang out with indie devs, this place is a great niche.
Tigris recruits primarily from the Tigsource forums. They run game jams all the time.

I've already posted in a few places like that and no luck. It's the first game project for both of us, and all the artists taking part in this jam have already partnered up with teams. It's okay, we can make do with pixel art we make ourselves, I just figured I'd throw out a call to my lovely B12 community and see if anyone happened to be interested. Our game is teeny tiny and needs very little art. Mostly we're just excited to be actually making a game and actually going to finish one for a change. :D

Can you explain a bit more about that ? What do you need exactly?

Just some simple graphics (pixel art is fine). We literally just need a few characters (very small, simple) and a couple of background tiles, and maybe some help making the interface a little prettier. It works just fine with our placeholder graphics, but as I said, if a more experienced artist wanted to jump on board and make some custom stuff, that would be awesome. There's still a week left in the jam, so if anyone decides they want to join, just let me know.
