The group followed Vahn, and together they headed towards Magruder's lair. Felicia took the chance to read the book on the way, learning just before her skills could be really needed.

~~~~Final Chapter: A Warlord's Downfall~~~~

The sun was setting down by the time the party reached the mouth of the cave where Magruder was supposed to be. There was an eerie calm in the air, as the tension reached its peak point right before they entered the wolf's den. But inside, something else is happening...

Deep in the cave, the bandits had carved themselves a hideout, complete with pillars and walls holding the roof up. Inside of one of those rooms Magruder and his lieutenants were holding a meeting with a special guest.

: Good, everyone arrived. Do you know why I called you here? The bandit boss asked the gathered group.

: Because we need to get the hell out of here as soon as possible? One of them piped up.

: That's right, Karras. We got screwed by those mercs in Kovitz. We have barely any men left, and they are probably gonna take the chance to get us. We need to disperse and lay low for the time being, until-

: Is there any way I can convince you to stay? The group won't be staying much longer if they don't get paid, and- Domenico interruped, but he himself got interrupted.

: Bullshit! That pansy bag of gold you brought ain't gonna buy me enough people to fight the dinky army they have! You have been pretty damn useless since they arrived, be glad I didn't have you chopped up as soon as you showed up!

Then one of the lookouts they had banged on the window to catch Magruder's attention.

Boss! Boss! There's a small party heading right towards us! They are heavily armed!

: Domenico got followed.

Before Domenico could defend himself, Magruder bursted towards him with surprising speed.

: Damn you! Now you've done it good! But don't think you can get away, if we get killed, you get killed with us! Magruder grabbed Domenico and shoved him in the side room, locking the door afterwards. All of you! Get out there and stop them!

: What about you?

: You'll stay here with me here a bit longer, Karras... We need a plan. For escaping now, for escaping after, I don't know. But I need to think.

Karras just nodded.
Outside the cave, the group started hearing some distant noises from inside, and once they got close they noticed some of the walls were carved to allow peeking out. They've been spotted.

The showdown was about to begin.

The armored guards in front took a step back, while one of the lookouts tried to snipe Jackal out of the peephole, only for the arrow to get stuck.
