Unfortunately for Grelen, his stealth skills weren't as strong as Vahn's, and the soldier quickly spotted him, waving at him.

Hey! You're Grelen, right? Did you come to check for straggler bandits too? Did you find any over there?

Vahn waited for a bit, but no one seemed to approach the ruined house. In fact, it was a bit too quiet...

Vahn circled around the house, staying in the tree shadows, and looked for a window or something he could peer through.

"Yeah, I figured I would provide backup for your group. Didn't find any bandits yet, though. I'm gonna follow Yuri, if that's okay. You got this?"

Sure. Yuri's over that way. The guard pointed in the direction Yuri had gone after they split.

Vahn found an opening in the wall where he could check the inside of the ruin, but Domenico was nowhere to be seen!

After waiting a moment, Vahn enters the house and as carefully and quietly as possible searches for hidden doors.

Grelen follows Yuri now, moving still quietly, but with his tome drawn.

Yuri is walking down the path, oblivious to the fact that Grelen is following him. Suddenly, he stops and takes his hand to his head, looking around confused. Yuri starts walking again, but stumbles and falls to the ground unconscious.

From the forests nearby, a hooded person emerges and runs over to Yuri.

Vahn finds the house empty, with no doors or passages of any kind. But he does notice shards of some gem on the floor of a room. Shards that Vahn could feel remnants of magic emanating out of them.

Grelen will quietly move up behind the figure, knife in hand instead of tome. Should the hooded figure try to harm Yuri, take them down and disarm them, then tie them. If I have to, go lethal.

Vahn gathers the shards and heads back to town to consult with the other magic users in the party.

The mysterious person quickly snatched a bag hanging from Yuri's belt and took off in the direction of the bandit base. They turned around to check if someone was following and spotted Grelen, but before he could give chase, he saw the glint of a staff in the person's hand.

The figure then turned around again and that was the last thing Grelen saw before falling into a deep sleep.

Grelen woke up moments later when the soldier he met before shook him awake. Yuri was already waking up nearby.

: Ugh... What happened?

I don't know, I just came back and you and Grelen were laying down on the floor! Thankfully you were just asleep. Grelen, did you see what happened?

Meanwhile Vahn returned with the small fragments, which Seraphiel could identify as being from a magic staff of the teleporting variety.

Maybe he's still at the church.

Vahn set off there to look for Seraphiel.

"A hooded figure,
He used a staff to knock us out. Yuri, he stole a pouch from your belt. What was in it?"

Yuri's hand went instinctively to where the bag would have been, and his face went slightly white.

: Ah, dammit! I had gold there! It was for your group, but I forgot to give it to you after the interrogation... A staff you say? Let's go back, we need to find Domenico.

Waking up from an aparent daze, Felecia asks her nearby compatriates

"Sorry, I started feeling homesick, what did I miss"

Seraphiel was, indeed, still at the church. Since he didn't had a chance to do anything regarding the lost human lives during the last fight, he decided to pray for their souls and hope they can do without a proper funeral.

Noticing Vahn entering the church, he interrupted his prayers and nervously turned towards him.

"...So, what did you find?"
