yeah its still to early to get hyped.

the development videos are awesome and the game seems to be on a pretty good state but its still pre alpha.

indeed. but also something that entices the player to explore and go deeper into the crafting system.

like progression achievements or an npc that provides tips from time to time. The Guide in Terraria gives a lot of information that can setup some sort of plan for the player when it starts. for now the only NPC that i've seen does the same style of advice is the crystal in Planet Centauri. in Starbound there's a ship AI but honestly, it doesnt say much, its more like a utility advisor (missions and crew data).

I thought we all knew better than to get overly excited about pre-alpha kickstarters promising the world and more?

I was doubtful until I saw there will be hooker bots.

PTW. I never could quite get into starmade, perhaps this will be more appealing when it is released.

I'm worried that this's going to catch NMS syndrome.

I've been watching this too, but I'd like to remember everyone to be careful with the hype, specially with sci-fi games.

My issue with this is that from what I've seem, the foundations are there for a good game. However, it can fall down SO EASILY under the spiral of games such as StarMade and SpaceEngineers, which have been in development for years, and only the hardest of hardcore fans really know what the hell is being developed.

The reason for that is that the developer says he wants to be Minecraft with Elite. He clearly put a lot of work in the building side of things, and multiplayer seems to be readily available, but it seems all too much work on "flashy" features. Those that sell.
It risks falling into the category of Space Engineers of a "Lego Box Toy Game", which you have a lot of parts in the box, but you have to put great amounts of effort to squeeze an actual game out of it.

Not trying to be boring, I hope it succeeds as it looks (and probably already feels) great. I suppose the dev is focusing on flashy features as he probably plans a Kickstarter/crowdfunding campaign, but damn..I want to see an actual game being released out of this scene.

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.

Seems interesting/promising, but I'll be keeping away until AI/missions/factions are in. There are already way too many shallow space building games with nothing to do with your creations.

Wow, this game really does seem more and more like the true breakout for the space sandbox series. It's somewhat of a shame I have to be somewhat reserved in just drooling over it. I really hope it pulls through.

That kickstarter though. I'm not sure what good kickstarters look like or what records are, but this much funding already for a game that I thought was pretty obscure is... really cool. I mean, some people are throwing 700 dollars at it.

To address some of the traps it might fall into, I would fear more that it would fall into the development hell and lack-of-completeness of starmade. However, I understand it, SW's code base is leagues ahead of SM's.

I do hope that the Tsuna gets the combat in and polished sooner rather than later though.

Sage did an interview video with the developer where he plays through the game with the developer, the tech he has currently is pretty impressive:

His goals are actually pretty low-key.

Just read some of the stuff. It's basically meant to be Elite but with LEGOs.
