yeah.
in Minecraft there's actually a reason to build stuff most of the time, your base specially since there's the problem of Creepers and monsters invading.
in Terraria there's a lot of collectibles and themed sets for decoration but its just icing in the cake because crafting is required to advance throught the game world, you can practically live in a box for that matter. in blood moons and other events like that you even have to modify the base to survive.
Starbound gives you a ship but you dont really need it for anything if you have flags or teleporters anyways. but the crafting is still there. i wish there was an actual point on upgrading the ship but oh well.
Avorion, well, you need to have a ship to advance on the game basically, and you cannot do small stuff because aparently, there's a minimal functional size. so instead of being able to build a fighter and go light you have to build heavy plated stuff in order to survive even at Iron in the galactic edges.
i hope this game implements stuff similar to the first 2 games i mentioned. the collectible part isnt really needed (allthought i liked to hoard things in Terraria) but building a base and actually have a use for it apart of storage/crafting would be nice.
same for ships. i see that the game allows to make compact and small ships so i hope this means i can build a civilian sized vessel for transport or trading or even small bounty hunting jobs. maybe have a system similar to the X series. that would be ideal.
points if there's a mission system that makes players explore space for key materials or intel or something like that.
the game isnt even in early access so we can only hope.
i wonder how will the dungeons be.....
