Retire-unretire the fort.

...how will that help in any way, out of curiosity?

I forget WHERE I read it, possibly Breadbowl (Facing this kinda trouble right now), but the theory is that that clears pathing information, and moved...Bloodyhells, I think, from 10 FPS to 212 FPS.

 :o

That sounds like it's worth trying out. I'll give it a go later and see what happens.

I mean, I've already lost hell. How can it get worse?

I was going to sig that for the sheer lunacy inherent in it...and then I realized it might actually be confused with someone who's invaded hell, set up a colony, and then lost it, making it less sig-worthy.

DF is a madhouse.

Too true.

Also, it occurs to me that Zona might teleport to a random part of the fortress if I retire. That won't happen if it's sealed up, right?

Who's Zona? Your FB?

Should not teleport if it's in a built cage. Other than that, yeah, seal the door with a stone wall (Can't be too careful) and then see what happens.

But for the love of Armok's blood-soaked iron whiskers, try it on a backup save first.

Zona's the giant web spewing tick that crawled from the caverns and killed a bunch of people before she fell into one of my traps. And by that, I mean that I lured her away with a bunch weapon racks and then pulled up a bridge to wall her off.

And yes I called a genderless beast as old as time a girl because why not. Zona sounds like a girls name to me.

So... if she's walled off with a bridge, can she escape when I unretire by teleporting?
I guess I'll give it a go later today and find out.

Alright, I'm trying out your idea now Madman. I have made a backup world and am now reclaiming Windlock.

While Zona did stay in her cage, she is now marked as the current resident instead of unwanted guest. All the dwarves are scattered across the map, the cave ogres escaped and the frame rate is actually worse now.

Yeah, I'm going to go back to the original.

The solution is simple, my friend.

Get your act together, beat up the demons from hell, and unlag your fort!

I mean, I've already lost the location of hell. How can it get worse?
I fixed it up, and I'm sigging this.

This thread must be setting a record for sig-worthiness. You should've said "I've already misplaced Hell, how can it get worse?"

I'm gonna re-say that in ten different ways to maximize the sigging.

I've already lost hell. How can it get worse?
I don't think things can get any worse than losing hell.
That is a bad potential situation, but it can't be worse than misplacing hell. Which I've done.
While we both can agree that Zona escaping is a terrible situation, we've already failed at finding the underworld so it can't get worse.
Why, oh WHY, have I lost hell! It cannot get worse than this!
Derpy Dev: Oh, how I miss you hell! I cannot give in to sadness.
I used to know the location of hell, but then I took a forgotten beast to the fort.
There is a stunning lack of fire and brimstone here. That sucks.
Derpy Dev had made many mistakes in his life so far, but there wasn't a single mistake he'd made or could make that was worse than what he did-he lost hell.
It's times like this when I think, "I hate it when I don't have to deal with a hoard of demons, but at least it can't get worse.
