out of curiosity, madman, what moved you from "we aren't making deals with monsters" to "lets send even more arines to their death, to get extra benefit"?

I couldn't win the path of decency, I'm not going to argue against the best remaining chance we have of not losing this war.

I vote we send Kasgyre into a vile darkness, instead of ourselves.

Right, so, shall we spend some resources upgrading our Comet PL? At least 5 Crystal... perhaps also 5 Ore? (5 Ore instead of 10 Wood because we need quantity over quality for the 23 misc resource cost of the Windrider PL dice). I figure giving it a bit more upgrade than is strictly necessary would be a good idea, lest we roll poorly on the pattern (which we need to do, apparently).

The PL calculator linked above says:

Code: [Select]
>>>!@,Home,TU
>>>#2-Comet
51.43c + 93.18o + 24.00w + 48.00s = 216.61

... No need for any upgrades at all. (current output: 225, 200+15+10)

EDIT: If we can lift the blockade at TC we are ~25% away from three comets per turn:
73.64c + 103.30o + 33.33w + 45.00s = 255.27

I was going to say "What if we lose TU", but I just remembered that doesn't matter, does it? We'd still get the same number of Comets. Yeah, fair enough then.

Three Captains

The single skiff sent to scout the Three Captains is able to send back a report, and it's daunting. The skiff counts are uncertain, but they peg the enemy forces at at least 4, though no more than 7 strong. The Vipers, however, they get a solid count on. Three, two armored, one not. Further details are impossible to make out from scouting distance.

Inside the Spire

The Marines inside the spire sit tight, device fifteen new games to play with luminescent rocks, and take turns trying to get a peek out of their caves. Exact numbers are hard to judge, but the enemy still has at least one big ship prowling about, and more little ones.

The Unfinished

The Marge returns safely from the Unfinished, but that safety seems to have been a near thing.  As the Batholith and Shibboleth arrive, one of the newer and nimbler Kasgyre skiffs attacks. The three escort comets, however, are able to engage the singular Kasgyrite vessel on nearly even terms. With numerical superiority, the battle is short and only results a shroud hole for one of the comets. The enemy skiff put up less of a fight than expected, and appeared to behave extremely erratically during combat.

The Shibboleth and the Batholith are able to proceed through unmolested.

The officer you left behind writes you a lovely letter thanking you for making the right choice in sending more men, and notes that the Kasgyrite attacks on the docks prior to the arrival of the Comets did not cause sufficient damage to alter production this year.

Confirmed Kills: Kasgyrite Skykiff

Spire Wreth

Three more comets are halfway to completion. Two new squads of marines have been trained to replace their sacrificed fallen brothers and sisters.

It is the beginning of the year 372AR.

Spire Wreth's Production Stands At,
13(+8)/y Crystal, 40/65 Banked
17/y Ore, 28/85 banked
19(+6)/y Wood, 38/95 banked
10/y Silk, 24/50 banked

It is now the design and project maintenance phase. You have 5 dice to spend.

Alright, so, two dice to the PL, right?
Then for revisions, one die on new Comet pattern. I'd also like an improved fortify tactic for our marines in TC, so they can really hunker down.

Agreed, but for future reference @Draig
If we wanted to fortify a spire, would we make a “Fortified outpost” design and then construct it on each spire we wanted fortified? Or would we need to do “Fortify TC”, Fortify Unfinished”, as seperate designs?
