I don't really have a firm hold on the battlefield so I'm staying quiet.

Turn soon. After Friday (and possibly during) we may be on a bit of a hiatus.

Three Captains

The Mongoose heads towards Kasgyrite territory and the Hervie heads back home, leaving the Three Captains momentarily empty of airships.

The two skiffs sent back in from Wreth note no changes in the aerosphere when they arrive.

Inside the Spire

No report comes from within the Three Captains.

Presumed Losses: Squads 3E, 4B

Haze-Maze

The two skiffs heading to the Three Captains from Kasgyre, surprisingly, do not cross paths with the Herbie as they pass through the Haze Maze. It's a worrying absence, and one that's unfortunately explained by a Kasgyrite skiff suddenly barreling down from above.

Said skiff, however, crosses into the firing line of the Demi-Spire's guns during its attack run. It doesn't even get to complete its attack run before combined fire from the two skiffs and the Demi-Spire turn it to ash.

Ships Lost: WOSV Herbie

Northern Kasgyrite Spire

The Mongoose arrives at the Northern Kasgyrite spire, and finds... nothing. While there is still some civilian shipping, there do not appear to be warships of any kind stationed here.

A search of the area briefly takes the Mongoose into range of the Spire's guns, and an edging barrage grazes the shroud, but no serious damage is inflicted.

Spire Wreth

The WOSV Herbie never arrives.

Two additional units of Marines are trained fully and readied for battle. The next batch of Comets is half ready.

It is the beginning of 364 AR.

Spire Wreth's production stands at
13/y Crystal, 49/65 Banked
17/y Ore, 28/85 banked
19/y Wood, 70/95 banked
10/y Silk, 50/50 banked

It is now the the design and project maintenance phase. You have 5 dice left to spend.

Welp.

I say we spend a design crafting the terms of our surrender.

And I'm only half joking.

I'm thinking officers or big crystals, but I'm basically given in to defeatism. Too many extra dice wasted in having to revise failures, and too many bad decisions early game.

Alright, here is a proposal for a research project:

Ikusasa Core Crystal Matrix Research Project
Our knowledge of how crystals work is anemic at best, we merely stumbled upon a setup that worked. And said setup is lacking, requiring expensive treatment options, a process that would drain our ore reserves to produce a sizable amount of crystals. This can not stand any longer.

This project will undergo an extensive period of research into the structure of the Core Crystal, and how said structure influences operations, in order to produce a base matrix that will make a core crystal of a quality that will greatly outclass any non-Itshana Select crystal produced at Wreth! Stronger shrouds, superior efficiency, and hopefully a greater internal storage, the Ikusasa Matrix promises much. With a superior base structure, it is suspected that this will also be able to produce a crystal able to withstand weights that were unattainable before...

In addition, while the Itshana Process will likely be mostly obsoleted by the Ikusasa Matrix (for Core Crystals), as it will have fewer flaws to correct, it will likely still be able to suppress any additional flaws occurring from the Flash-Growth process.

For the sake of Wreth, this Project Will Not Fail; and Wrethan Pride mandates it's success. Any relevant resource the Spire has to spare will be put to use, Vattery Experts, all of the spare vats, the finest materials (should they prove necessary), theoretical engineers and more. The Department of Maintenance will likely be pushed to its absolute limit in keeping things around Spire Wreth functional, and the commandeered resources will have to be reallocated back to where they were after this project, but for a time, this will be acceptable. The sake of Spire Wreth demands it.

This is assuming we spend both the [6] and the +2. I can make alternate write-ups for that last paragraph in case we decide to use a different layout of our bonuses.

Quote from: Aether Crystal Enhancement Simplification System
It has been know for some time that the basic structure of our crystals is suboptimal. This project aims to change that.

By growing hundereds, if not thousands of tiny crystals, each with slightly different structure, shape, and growth media, we hope to gain an understanding of how crystal shape and structure effect the mechanical and aetheric strength and effecency of the crystal matrix. By forming and testing therories of crystal behavior, we can systematically come up with better basic structures for all our existing crystals, allowing larger crystals to be grown, and improving the atheric effecency of existing crystals by at least a small amount.

This project will be assigned a very small number of itshana select vats in adition to the normal ones. Since the objective is to grow better structure, and these tiny crystals will mostly be useless duds, wasting much in the way of the itshana chemicals would be a crime, but promising forms should be tested at the best purity possible to ensure that impurities do not throw the tests.

EDIT: Yes, I know is should be ACCESS not ACESS, but I can't think of a second C. Help a guy out? Maybe I should drop "Simplification" and make it ACES?

Automatic Heuristic Aeronautic Balancer

In battle, there's a constant back and forth between the captain, present on deck, and the engineers below. Delays here mean the difference between life and death, between a near miss and a devastating hit. AHAB uses signalling to put the controls at the captains fingers, using a primitive automatic system to control the core and power distribution automatically. Engineers remain present, stabilizing and optimizing the core in whatever configurations the captain desires it.

Advanced Construction Equipment Our primitive barricades were useful against Kasgyrian crossbows, but faltered against their grenades. New equipment is needed. Our new defensive supplies consists of durable sandbags, plentifull wood, all moved in autonomously hovering carts. In battle, the cards tiny core generator can be used to generate a simple shround protecting the front lines.

That project seems to lean on Cores. Was it going to be exclusive?

Yeah, the Ikusasa Matrix is for Core Crystals only.

Figured we should get the absolute most bang for our buck and make damn-near perfect core crystals. Let me know if there is anything about it that's missing or needs editing ok?

(Note: While the Itshana Select is near flawless, they're still based upon a flawed matrix.... It's a band-aid on a severe wound, basically... It's a really, REALLY good band-aid, but still a band-aid nonetheless.)
