BLOCK (Barricade- Light, Omniplacable, Counter-Kasgyr): The BLOCK system is truly a masterpiece of Wrethian engineering, and anyone who says otherwise gets mailroom duty. Consisting of state-of-the-art wooden boards, high-tech wooden posts, and cutting-edge hammers and nails, the BLOCK system offers a simple solution to Kasgyrites outflanking your position. The innovative design allows the system to be tailored to the environment into which it is to be placed, whilst also being easy to use. Local materials may be employed (in a high-tech fashion) to 'bulk up' the barricade.
The BLOCK comes with enough materials to block off a medium-sized tunnel, or several smaller ones (or a large number of spider-holes).

Anti-Flanking (note to self: come up with better name): In certain environments, our brave Marines's tendency to always look forwards towards victory may have certain drawbacks. Fortunately, this is an easily solved problem. By having a squad guard and monitor the flank and rear, ready to raise the alarm, we can react to would-be ambushers before they can strike.
Synergises with the presence of barricades, which allow for potential ambush-routes to be blocked off, such that the foe is either incapable of moving through, or will need to make so much noise when dismantling the barricade that ample warning will be provided to our Marines. The foe will not encounter the soft underbelly of our forces, but rather find themselves staring down the barrel of a PLACE. Fortunately for them, they will not have much time to dwell on their impending death.
I consider these two to be essential.

Quote
Poisoned Bolts: Both the Suppressor and the Pincushion suffer from a lack of punch. Whilst they are capable of piercing flesh, they may only cause minor injuries, and any amount of armour will deflect them harmlessly. Attempts to improve the power have not been successful. So we decided to use more unconventional methods.
We set out to create bolts laced with poison that can quickly debilitate enemy soldiers. When you think poison, you think surface creatures. We tasked our Surface-Workers (those subhuman filth) with obtaining the venom glands of a variety of deadly creatures, from which we extracted and refined noxious concoctions. Testing the poisons was the privilege of some of our worst criminals. In exchange, we had their sentences reduced by 12%.
The resulting poison can be painted on to the tip of a bolt, and causes [death/paralysis/debilitating pain] within seconds of entering the bloodstream.
This one would be nice.

As for the Skyskiff revision... I like the idea of replacing two regular LACs with a spinal-mount SUCKERPUNCH. Alternatively, we could upgrade the core crystal to a Select, though that would drop us below 2 Skiffs p/t, at least until we upgrade our docks.

I'm down with the three NUKE proposed, and I like the single spinal mount skyskiff revision.

Just watch out that you don't kill the resupply rate.

Swapping the two normals for a SUCKERPUNCH only changes COWS by a tiny bit. A tiny bit cheaper.

The spinal mount cannon will probably have problems keeping targets in its firing arc if we don't spend a revise on positioning it right. Alternatively, our captains might just be stupid enough to slow down to get more shots in per pass.

My main problem with a two to one gun change is that it just makes our Skiff worse.

Suckerpunch only has 175% of the power.

Err, what? It is easier to point a something forward than something to the sides. Also, forward presents a smaller profile to the target.

You're only changing the loadout, not the structure. All, you've done is made an unbalanced ship.

I'd recommend using a crippling poison, rather than a killing one.

A crippled man requires care, diverting more troops from the front line. Also, someone's going to have to expose themselves to retrieve their wounded. Unless Kasgyrites are just that barbaric.

Such is the cold numbers of any war.

A single double-powerful forwards-facing weapon is INFINITELY better than two half-strength broadside guns.
I would add the following to that, though: Make it a SUCKERPUNCH up front, drop the two cannons. The means we're one crystal down. How bad is the COWS effect if we swap one of the three trim crystals with an Itshana Select?

Per GM.

Basic Skiff can shoot both guns forwards.  So there would definitively be loss of function by switching to a single Suckerpunch.

One gun is still better (for punching shroud), as the two shots will hit different spots.

Which matters only if there's a shroud somewhere that can be killed by a single shot. Since there isn't...

I'll say again Milo, upgrading the core crystal still means it's using trims for lifting and kills manouverability.
It will definitely help with the shroud and power management, but a lift does that for cheaper.

"Pocket Rocket"/"Skyleaper"/"Pirahna" class skyskiff.
The effectiveness of the alarmingly-named 'Vomit Comet' has been noted, sent home in letters, disseminated into action reports and collated in triplicate.
The results are in, and they look good. Now is the time to revise our standard pattern of Skyskiff.
By removing one of the guns and upgrading the other to a SUCKERPUNCH-pattern chase cannon, we will be free to upgrade the lift crystal to an Itshana Select, causing improvements in speed, manouverability, impact and shroud with little reduction in sustained firepower.

Ah, in that case, yeah, no spinal mount SUCKERPUNCH.

So, I'm not 100% sold on this whole Skyskiff revision thing. It seems to me like two Skiffs is better than one Skiff, even if the one Skiff is 50% better. And it doesn't sound like we can get a major boost to performance without losing production capacity.
That being said, if we intend to upgrade our docks soon, then upgrading to a skiff of a COWS cost of ~125 would make sense (I'm figuring that a dock improvement design would result in at least a 25% increase in capacity).
So, like, a Select Core, Select Lift, and SUCKERPUNCHes... that'd add 24.29 to the cost. We'd definitely drop to 1 Skiff p/t, but go back up to 2 after upgrading the docks.

We could just do a dock revision and see what we have to work with?
