I suggest this:
Codes, Signals, Visuals
By using a series of colored flags during the day, and bright lanterns during the night, our ships will be capable of communicating faster than ever. A "shorthand" code is developed for basic needs such as "Gain altitude", "Turn to port", "Accelerate", and "Enemy spotted [direction]". Spyglasses are developed to aid communications at longer ranges.

Quote from: Skyskiff Line Improvement
-2 normal cannons
-1 normal small core
+1 itshana small core
+1 SUCKERPUNCH in a spinal mount

This is a simple nearly cost-neutral revision of our current skyskiff pattern, just swap out the cannons for a new one and drop in a new core crystal to boost shroud.

Cost: +5 ore over base. Still figuring out the COWS...

There, a fine revision to use our last die on, assuming the PLACE only consumes 2 dice one way or another...

Madman! You cut off my votes!... It's ok though, as I was going to shuffle my votes around and add links anyway. Next turn should see heavy investment into the Windrider, though.

I don't understand Milo, what does your skyskiff revision bring to the table other than more power hungry trim crystals further taxing the power crystal?

Better maneuvering and all firepower focused in a single direction for better shroud killing ability. If the core can't handle the extra trims then we are in serious need of a core with more margin. Honestly, not everything is drawing the same amount all the time, in most cases we just run the trims a tiny bit lower and get the same performance, but when it is needed there are 2 trims more than we had as reserve.

Anyway, here's another Skyskiff idea.

10ebbor10's 2 in 1 Skyskiff deal

Includes :
1 Skyskiff Hull
2 Itshana Core
2 Itshana Lift Core
8 Itshana Trim Crystals
4 Reams of Webbing

Total Cost : 195.52

Gives us a production line that produces 1 functional, but unarmed Skiff, and all the core crystals and webs of another skiff;

Only thing we need to do is build 4 guns and a frame.

I don't think the Skyskiff has room for two core/lift crystals.

I mean, if that'll fly, that'd be cool. But I doubt it will.

EDIT:
Really, though, how did you soup up those skiffs so much that they wipe the mezzosphere with us every engagement? My money's on "polish a crystal really hard".
It's nice to hear that they aren't as confident as we are despondent.

It doesn't need to fit 2 core/lift crystals.

Those are the spares, which we can conveniently use to build an entirely new second Skiff.

It's a good idea, it's just that I wrote this:
"Pocket Rocket"/"Skyleaper"/"Pirahna" class skyskiff.
--Review Phase--
The effectiveness of the alarmingly-named 'Vomit Comet' has been noted, sent home in letters, disseminated into action reports and collated in triplicate.
The results are in, and they look good. Now is the time to revise our standard pattern of Skyskiff.
By removing one of the guns and upgrading the other to a SUCKERPUNCH-pattern chase cannon, we will be free to upgrade the lift crystal to an Itshana Select, causing improvements in speed, manouverability, impact and shroud with little reduction in sustained firepower.

COWS-count prev: 100.69
COWS-count after: 103.19

Edit: Alt (COWS-count w/ Itshana select lift & core: 113.6)
Almost a day earlier.
The difference being an itshana lift instead of additional trims.

Also another thing I've brought attention to before:
A notable problem with the Skyskiff is that both her Core Crystal and Her Lift Crystal slots are only designed to fit small crystals. Her small lift crystal means a lot of the burden for vertical maneuvers is still placed on the power hungry trim crystals, which in turn puts more demand on her small core. As a result, her shroud is weak, and a single light cannon blast will knock a hole in it.
Adding extra trims is just going to tax the power crystal more.

Not sure if you didn't see mine, or if you think the extra trims will be a superior option.

Well, in that case an itshana lift is a bad idea too. An itshana core would also be cost neutral (since lines don't care what materials are used, just how much). This would boost shroud.

Edited my proposal. It's not quite cost neutral any more, it has 5 more COWS.

Not really.

The lift cores are more efficient in the amount of energy they consume.

Yeah, really that's an inference you can make from the same paragraph. The trims are power-hungry compared to lifts.
Also I'm kind of curious how my lift + core design manages to only be 3 COWS over, but yours with only a core is 5.

I might need to re-do my numbers.

Yeah, the department of redundancy got to take point on that design.
Could you not share design information with the enemy? Now they know the Windrider is loaded with redundancies. All they knew about before was the shroud.

I totally screwed my numbers. 5 was way wrong.

Edit: Where is the spreadsheet? It's not pinned.
